Summary Description   Clayco is passionate about using Art, Design, Build and Technology to improve construction.  The Information Technology team at Clayco integrates technology into our efforts to help revolutionize the Construction Technology industry.  The Product Owner has content authority for the Program Backlog.  The Product Owner is responsible for identifying Customer needs, prioritizing Features, guiding the work through the Program Kanban and developing the program Vision and Roadmap in the Construction Technology industry.  The Product Owner is responsible for the stewardship of mission-critical software-based business solutions across a portfolio of business accounts, where a business account may represent a specific Clayco business unit or even the broader Clayco enterprise as a whole. These business solutions are intended to facilitate/optimize the key workflows and processes of their business users and the Product Owner is charged with regularly gauging whether this expectation is being met and proactively engaging in remediation efforts when technology solutions are falling short. The Product Owner leads the IT Business Solutions team. In a nutshell, the Business Solutions team is a team of Product Owners that interface between the broader Clayco business and IT. They usually help oversee the cohesion of multiple product/service verticals and they should be the guiding light on the process and tools used to report the product team’s direction. They are the stabilizing and negotiating hand that ensure teams are operating with synergy and maintaining an ongoing dialogue with key stakeholders. They know when to step in to support a Product Owner and they, most importantly, know when to step back from the Product Owner to let them flourish.   Key Responsibilities

  • Understand customer needs and validate solutions – Product Owner is the internal voice of the customer and works with customers to constantly understand and communicate their needs and participate in the validation of the proposed solutions.
  • Understand and supportportfolio work – Product Owner has a responsibility to understand the budget for the upcoming fiscal period, understand how Strategic Themes influence the strategic direction
  • Develop and communicate the program vision and roadmap – Product Owner continuously develops and communicates the vision to the development teams and defines the features of the system. In collaboration with System and Solution Architect/Engineering, they also define and maintain the Nonfunctional Requirements (NFRs) to help ensure that the solution meets relevant standards and other system quality requirements. They are responsible for the roadmap, which illustrates, at a high level, how features are intended to be implemented over time.
  • Manage and prioritize the flow of work – Product Owner manages the flow of work through the program Kanban and into the program backlog. Product Owner is responsible for making sure that there are enough features ready in the backlog at all times. For example, they have feature acceptance criteria that can be used to establish that it meets its Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Define releases – Owning the ‘what’ means that Product Owner is largely responsible for release definition as well, including new features, architecture, and allocations for technical debt. This is accomplished through a series of releases, whose definition and business objectives are also determined by Product Owner.  Product Owner works with release Owner, where applicable, to decide when enough value has been accrued to warrant a release to the customer.
