OIT is currently looking for a Director of Solution Design (DSD) to serve in a new leadership role in Outreach Information Technology (OIT) that will provide cohesive vision and architecture guidance for all technical assets that support Outreach and Online Education (OOE). Additionally, this role will be the deputy to the Executive Director on all departmental matters in the event of his absence. Leading a team of senior technical staff and business analysis professionals, the DSD will reside at the front edge of emerging needs from the diverse set of business lines in OOE. Maintaining a vigilant eye on the future, the DSD will proactively suggest automation improvements and transformative digital trends to business partners with a cohesive vision for the entire digital ecosystem that supports OOE. The DSD will be an expert at translating complex future oriented ideas into meaningful proposals with strong financial justification. Additionally, the DSD will create capacity to assist with service design and improvement activities that will ensure broad technical alignment and high client value with a relentless “outside-in” focus. As a new role the DSD will need to be a “bridge builder” and coach who can approach this role with finesse on a strong foundation of emotional intelligence. Some conceived work elements for this role are: becoming involved with industry thought leadership in relevant domains, establishing methods to stay informed about business unit needs, contributing to the formulation of early stage strategic initiatives for OOE, consulting with other enterprise and local IT staff to ensure architecture and solution alignment, business case and request for proposal development, and keeping vigilant forward pressure on team development and skillset growth in alignment with future needs. Experience with Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and Vendor Management a plus.

This position typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher and 4+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs.
