Responsible for operational aspects of Database appliances and Engineered Systems' deployment and support related matters which will include performing impact analysis for patches, understanding configuration, and developing migration strategies often involving combinations of platforms. Specific responsibilities include: overall daily operation of the Database Application Systems including 24/7/365 coverage across all business units; security focal for the platform and closely interface with internal security teams; work on Data Center Space, power and networking needs for deployments of new appliances; work alongside internal ETS teams and vendors to support future roadmaps with reference to converged systems; work on POC's and provide comparative analysis on competing products; track, analyze, and project overall platform growth and capacity needs; coordinate with vendors for installation and configuration of Oracle Exadata, ZFS, BDA, IBM Netezza and Teradata systems; application of updates to the DBM systems; ensure that the DBM storage is actively monitored through the converged stack; and implementation of OS patches for the DBM which are delivered in bundles that include HW fixes (firmware), OS (security and updated RPM's) and database (bug fixes).

Minimum requirements are: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline, or its equivalent plus 5 years of experience in various client server technologies with primary focus on infrastructure related technologies specific to Unix/Databases. 

Must have: demonstrated solid ability with Oracle Exadata, ZFS Storage Appliance, IBM Netezza (Pure Data Appliance), and Teradata from an operating system and hardware standpoint; demonstrated solid knowledge of Unix operating systems and relational database systems; demonstrated solid understanding of operations in managing different technologies; and demonstrated solid understanding of SDLC processes.
