Sundt Construction’s Information Technology Team based in Tempe Arizona is currently looking to add an IT Engineering Manager. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management and long-term planning of Sundt’s infrastructure including but not limited to:

  1. All network routers, switches & firewalls (both WAN & LAN)
  2. Storage Area Network (Compellent Technologies)
  3. All server hardware, VMWare virtualized environment and Microsoft Server OS
  4. Network security
  5. System backups and disaster recovery plans
  6. Wired and wireless systems

The ideal candidate will have experience leading and managing staff, completing performance and goals reviews, managing maintenance and licensing requirements and performing hands-on administration of several infrastructure platforms with a strong emphasis on network and security management. This individual will have the ability to learn new platforms quickly, apply knowledge of industry best-practices and corporate policies and build and lead an effective team to efficiently deploy and manage Sundt’s infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and early/late hours to implement upgrades or resolve critical system failures with minimal disruption of end-user services.

  2. Overall responsibility for Network Engineering team and reliable daily operation of the network and server environments. Ensures Network Engineering performs within the stated policies and procedures for all devices directly or indirectly connected to the company WAN. Works closely with IT Director to develop appropriate policies or procedures when new technologies are introduced into the environment.

  3. Occasionally travels to regional offices to build strong relationships with assigned personnel, operational managers and company leaders. Works closely with assigned personnel to find cost-effective IT solutions that satisfy business requirements based on customer feedback.

  4. Negotiates vendor contracts for hardware/software and consulting/outsourcing services. Exercises good judgment and complies with all company policies related to ethics and professional conduct.

  5. Attends scheduled meetings and/or participates on corporate committees to provide IT department representation or technical advice to company leaders. Adheres to the IT department project schedules; utilizes meeting agendas; summarizes discussions points in meeting minutes; conducts post meeting follow-up to ensure timely completion of all assigned action items.

  6. Level 5 IT Support Position: Builds strong customer and employee relations to facilitate completion of IT projects and/or reliable operation of IT systems.

  7. Responsible for keeping sensitive company information confidential and complies with, supports and enforces all legislative and company requirements with respect to privacy, security and confidentiality. Provides technical assistance and guidance to the Compliance department during internal investigations.

  8. May supervise staff, including: establishing and communicating performance expectations, providing positive and constructive feedback, determining training and development needs and conducting on-the-job training.

  9. Stays current on the latest technological innovations for computer and network based technologies, infrastructures and services and evaluates new technology concepts and innovations.

  10. Closely monitors all IT projects assigned to the Network Engineering team. Ensures each project has a detailed projectschedule with realistic time-lines and appropriate staffing levels and/or qualified consultants assigned to the project. Provides regular status reports and project schedule updates to the IT Director.

Minimum Job Requirements

  1. Minimum five years hands-on technical experience in a LAN/WAN environment.

  2. Proven proficiency with Microsoft server software including Windows Server and Exchange.

  3. Proficient use of all Microsoft Office Suite programs

  4. Proactive and results oriented with excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills.

  5. Demonstrated skills in personnel and project management.

  6. Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and/or other infrastructure technology based certifications desirable.

  7. Proven track record of successfully leading and completing technology projects of value greater than $500K.

  8. BS in Computer Science or Information Technology curriculum, or an AA plus a minimum of three years IT management experience.
