The Information Technology Department is responsible for the implementation, provision and support of all Information and Technology services within the organization. The department is a business services function that supports and contributes to the objectives of the organization. Members of this department are expected to fit into the organization’s culture and be committed to providing a high quality of service to customers.
The IT Technology Team is responsible globally for the design, development, management, architecture, operation and full lifecycle of all network, server, and security equipment, including but not limited to: WANs, LANs, internet connectivity, all internal cabling/patching, security appliances, other network appliances, including the underlying network load balancing capabilities, servers, storage area networks, unified communications and remote network connectivity, whether hosted on premise or in third-party locations operating under contract with Billings Clinic. This also includes all datacenter management, equipment, and services.
The IT telecommunication technician has responsibility for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the organization’s telecommunications, call recording, PBX, nurse call, paging, cable television, overhead paging, and emergency/enterprise radio communications systems. Monitors systems to ensure configurations, performance, resources, and security of the systems meet organizational needs and standards. Establishes voice and data networks by terminating, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, establishing connections; programming features; following industry standards; activating remote access tools; and coordinating with contractors. Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; and identifying, correcting, or escalating problems. Documents network by labeling all communication equipment, cables, recording configuration diagrams and specifications. Maintains telecommunication network by troubleshooting and repairing outages, testing network back-up procedures, and updating documentation. Maintains customer rapport by listening, resolving concerns, and answering questions. Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications.
