Job Description

Director of PMO is responsible for driving strategic and flexible project and program methodology for the global IT portfolio, as well as effective project and program delivery along with project prioritization and pipeline management. This is a highly visible role interfacing with senior executives across the organization. The role is responsible for framing and structuring complex initiatives, prioritizing and steering all projects in the portfolio, driving PMO process and policy, and directing program and project management staff to drive continuous improvements in IT project management related operations. Director of IT PMO will oversee global strategic projects from initiation to completion and provide leadership to the Program and Project Managers to execute projects and promote high performance culture across the entire IT team. This position will be accountable for the delivery of the entire IT program portfolio.


• Responsible for establishing, standardizing, and leading global IT project management practices for multiple programs, across all areas of IT and the business, including Acquisitions, IT Infrastructure and Operations, Corporate Security, High Performance Computing, Business Process and Business Systems

• Collaborate with senior executives to prioritize programs and projects based on company objectives in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment. Manage changing functional needs, resource capacity constraints, risk exposure, and interdependencies

• Lead and improve the IT Portfolio Governance framework. Includes facilitating and leading senior executive prioritization discussions and program and project steering committees

• Plan, implement and continuously improve project management best practices and tool sets to streamline project processes and procedures and maximize operational effectiveness

• Regularly interact with business unit leaders to develop project and program resourcing strategies to ensure optimum support for projects and for the day-to-day operational activities

• Manage a team of Program and project managers. Provide organization with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills

• Ensure all programs, projects, and work streams are well defined, planned, and resourced to deliver per schedule of the overall program timeline. Drive a culture of urgency, on-time, on-budget and in-scope project delivery

• Provide regular visibility to project status (key decisions, dependencies, issues, risks, metrics) on a standard cadence through status reporting and program / workstream reviews

• Establish and monitor value metrics to inform decisions that maximize returns across enterprise projects and programs. Drive business value across all program activities

• Provide oversight and audit accountability for all SOX, Compliance, and security requirements across the project portfolio. Collaborate with internal audit to drive appropriate IT controls. Support project audits to ensure compliance and accuracy of the established controls

• Develop surge resource strategy and metrics. Manage vendors to achieve a high level of performance through fact-based performance metrics

• Improve and maintain an effective communications plan to ensure frequent, accurate, and timely communication to all stakeholders and to solidify commitment to the strategic roadmap


  • University degree or equivalence in number of years’ experience in computer science, business administration, or information systems.
  • Proven ability to frame and structure problems, projects, and initiatives, and synthesize complex information from a multitude of resources into an achievable and actionable plan
  • Demonstrated experience with strategic and operational planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources
  • Ability to effectively interface with technical (IT) groups as well as business teams and executives, both in person and remotely
