Position Summary

The IS Project Manager provides management for organizational IS projects and implementation activities of the IS Department.  Reviews proposed IS projects and is able to evaluate the project and how it fits into the strategic plans of the organization. This professional will provide IS project management, develop financial forecasts for new projects and support new project evaluations with market research. Delivers project feedback to IS Director in the form of executive briefings and monthly updates regarding project budget and timelines.


Major Responsibilities1.

Takes leadership role on multiple IS projects ranging from single department to multiple, integrated systems, services, and initiatives.  Responsible for leading multiple projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost to deliver specified requirements and meet customer satisfaction.

2.

Works with Director of IS or project sponsor to develop cost effective project plans, deliverables, schedules, budgets, measures of success.  Considers any applicable regulations and codes.

3.

Partners with Facilities Director and Construction Manager on building and large remodeling projects to establish and monitor budgets, deliver change requests to appropriate persons for decisions, and is able to explain variances from budget.

4.

Works with all IS team managers and directors to assure proper resources are assigned to IS projects.

5.

Identifies project stakeholders and the project team.  Clarifies team roles and responsibilities.

6.

Provides quarterly reports to IS management on the status of the IS projects.

7.

Conducts regular project reviews and reports the status of projects in both formal and informal settings to team members, sponsors, and stakeholders.  Is proactive in the identification and resolution of issues that may impact a project or project deliverables; and seeks innovative ways to remove project obstacles.

8.

Collaborates with other departments, divisions and committees of Gundersen Health System to ensure completion  of project requirements.

9.

Ensures satisfactory transfer of the project outcomes along with the appropriate documentation to the project sponsor.  Debrief with project team and document significant learning.

10.

Close all project documentation and archive appropriate records.

11.

Collaborates with other members of the IS Management team to share knowledge, problem-solve, and serve as back up for each other.

12.

Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

Position Qualifications Education and Learning: Required Bachelor's degree in Information Systems 

or project management or a related field

Desired Master's degree in  Information Systems  Work Experience: Required 5-7 years of experience in progressively responsible work in management, prefer healthcare management Desired 8-10 years of project management experience combined with proven ability to manage a variety of projects with varying levels of complexity to completion.
