The position is responsible for IRA technical guidance, research and analysis as a result of new legislation, regulatory developments, or client inquiries. Coordination of policies and procedures with IRA Operations, branch offices, Financial Advisors and sales associates is expected. The ability to develop FA communications and client materials is also expected. Familiarity with qualified retirement plan rules is a plus, but not required.
Responsibilities:
- Independently research and analyze regulatory guidance from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Department of Labor (DOL) and new legislation. Interface with Operations, Compliance and Legal Departments, as necessary
- Provide technical consulting services to branch offices (Financial Advisors and Sales staff), Operations areas, intermediaries and external clients. Draft client and in-house technical communications. Tailor such communications to fit customer’s needs
- Support Plan Services (both existing and new business) and serve as technical consultant to Retirement Services Department Regional Directors
- Maintain IRS pre-approved prototype plan documents together with external consultants and the Legal Department
- Support new product development
· Overview of IRA non-marketable securities investment program
- Develop and deliver IRA technical training programs for Oppenheimer Financial Advisors
- Maintain high level of awareness of ongoing developments in the retirement industry
- Participate in special technical projects/task forces
- Ability to review and prepare simplified retirement plan analysis for clients
Qualifications:
- Advanced knowledge of general legal requirements for IRAs
- Ability to independently research, analyze and interpret government regulations and legislation
- Advanced communication skills (verbal, written and listening) for customer contact, technical writing and technical training
- Strong problem resolution skills and ability to work with others, with an emphasis on analysis and formulation and documentation of sound recommendations
- Strong organizational/time management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Team skills to contribute to the success of department goals and objectives
Requirements:
· 5+ years of IRA experience
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
