The Computing & Networking Intellectual Property (IP) Strategic Reuse Staff Engineer will define, implement, and control a GE Aviation Systems wide Intellectual Property reuse strategy in support of Bid & Proposals, New Product Introduction and Corporate Cost-Out and Time-To-Market Initiatives. The role owner will define requirements for and guide and/or lead IP development and will control and reinforce re-use rules as agreed to with the business leadership.
The role owner will assist Integrated Product Development Teams to tie their product developments to the re-use strategies. The role owner will lead the effort to maintain the IP held within the re-use library, inclusive of associated cost of change and configuration management activities. This position will be responsible for the specific tasks as noted below:
1. Define, Implement & Control the Re-Use Strategy
a. Lead efforts to re-use intellectual property components throughout the Avionics Business.
b. Support bids and proposals with re-use strategies.
c. Closely collaborate with the functional discipline IP re-use focals to establish sustainable IP-reuse strategy and process.
d. Promote and measure the value of the re-use process to demonstrate Return on Investment.
e. Establish and administer training for the use, control and growth of the IP library.
2. Provide IP Development and Change Management Leadership
a. Establish and manage re-use library change management process.
b. Coordinate Purchased IP License fees.
c. Manage re-use tool development and deployment.
d. Lead the re-use IPT and Product Line Management Board.
e. Work with the business to establish the IP re-use funding strategy.
f. Perform and document valuation of IP held.
g. Promote and protect formal IP capture, including Patent Discoveries.
h. Working with legal, contracts and export control focals, document authorized use cases for the IP components.
3. Lead Product Area and IPDT Engagement for the Re-Use Strategy
a. Support Business Area Product and Technology Roadmaps with re-use strategies.
b. Support NPI programs with re-use strategies.
c. Tie individual Project strategies to the re-use strategy
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
At least 10 years of experience in Avionics design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.

Ability to support up to 10% travel
IP Development and Management Experience
Prior experience managing or designing within a product area
Prior experience in product line engineering
10+ years of experience with Avionics Computing technologies
Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, requirements allocation, requirements validation, requirements verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, qualification testing, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety.
Able to effectively communicate directly with senior leadership inside and outside the company.
