Investment Operations Manager


Position Summary:

Leads, directs and manages Investment Operations (InvOps) functions and team for the Insurer’s General Account (GA) portfolios.  Oversight of broker trade matching, trade settlements, pricing, cash & collateral management, investment compliance, reconciliation, data quality, reporting, investment systems, and performance measurement/attribution.


 Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate, required & timely trade processing & data from team of InvOps specialists as sources for management reporting and investment strategy decisions.

  • Provide leadership for day-to-day responsibilities ensuring completion within proper procedures and controls.

  • Manage Service Level Agreement with Investment Management while prioritizing requests from other stakeholders – Treasury, Compliance, Accounting, External Custodian.

  • Iteratively formalize and/or improve processes moving toward industry best practice while enhancing related procedure documentation.

  • Direct efforts of team & set performance goals and objectives for each team member.


Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, economics, business or related fields and minimum 7years of experience in Investment Operations functions, including team management for 2+ years.

  • Strong analytical skills that can assess an issue & implement appropriate solutions.Escalate issues to get other business groups or solution vendors to prioritize & deliver solutions that fulfill business requirements that you document as part of your analysis.

  • Able to develop effective relationships throughout the organization and with external business partners from Executives to Investment Managers to Service Teams at Custodians & Solution Vendors.

  • Experience with the following InvOps Solutions & Tools - Bloomberg AIM, PAM for Securities, BRS Aladdin, Reconciliation, SQL Queries, MS Excel VBA & MS Access.

  • Deep understanding of fixed income & derivatives trade processing & cash management.Knowledge of private equities, real estate & bank loans will also be helpful.

  • Demonstrated commitment to InvOps professional career path with experience.Post-bachelor related coursework & certifications including CFA could potentially be supported.

  • Familiarity with General Account regulations at the Federal & State level for Securities and Insurance will be helpful.
