Investment Accounting Manager for our Finance Business Unit.
Primary Job Duties: - Oversee all aspects of the investment accounting process, including trades settlements, recordkeeping, and valuation.
- Prepare accurate and timely journal entries for investment transactions, including purchases, sales, maturities, interest accruals, and fair value adjustments following GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Assemble and maintain the Investment Accounting Procedures manual to ensure documentation is current and properly maintained
- Manage the investment accounting system, ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
- Reconcile investment accounts monthly and perform other reconciliations as needed, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor and analyze investment portfolio performance, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to investments.
- Support Treasury with investments activities: wire transfers, trade settlements and confirmation, margin calls, FED and other Banks securities transfers, and other activities
- Review all reconciliations to ensure all items are being researched & cleared timely.
- Stay abreast of relevant accounting standards (FASB) and regulatory requirements (FINRA, SEC) for investment accounting.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner. Review or prepare monthly, quarterly, or yearly investment related information and reports as required.
- Assist the Controller with audits and examinations related to the investment portfolio.
- Book FX and derivatives transactions and ensure they are recorded properly and accurately. Clear pending items to ensure client's accounts are affected properly.
- Participate in the bank's month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Maintain strong internal controls over the investment accounting function.
- Responsible for completing annual training program assigned.
- Performs other functions and/or duties as assigned.
Job Requirements: - Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CFA certification preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in investment accounting or financial reporting, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, regulatory requirements, and financial reporting standards.
- Advance computer skills including but not limited to proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
- Must be bilingual in both English and Spanish. Ability to fluently speak, understand, read, and write both languages.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task, with strong organization, time-management, and prioritizing skills.
- Strong customer service skills, ensuring the satisfaction of internal customers.
- Intermediate knowledge of related State and Federal banking compliance regulations and operational policies.
- Ability to understand and comprehend instructions, procedures, and policies ensuring compliance with the Bank's policies and procedures.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify problems.
