Overview / Responsibilities

Amec Foster Wheeler currently has exciting opportunities for Project Controllers, both Intermediate and Senior. Reporting to the Manager of Project Services these positions are located in our Vancouver, BC office. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyzing and forecasting project costs; project planning as well as developing, preparing, collecting and analyzing schedule and cost data on a weekly and monthly basis to assist the management of the project preparation of weekly and monthly reports
  • Creating, analyzing and managing detailed project information related to contractual schedule, scope and cost for submittal to program management
  • Reporting project cost and schedule status to management for internal reviews as well as analyzing cost variances and recommending corrective actions for capital projects
  • Setting up, tracking and analyzing engineering man-hours and associated costs within Amec Foster Wheeler's proprietary management system
  • Estimating, tracking and analyzing material and equipment quantities and installation rates
  • Ensuring all project tasks are identified and resource needs properly estimated for the project
  • Preparing or assisting in the development and implementation of project baseline budgets and schedules
  • Setting up project Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and allocating budgets at appropriate WBS levels for project tasks
  • Reviewing project scope change and change order requests for proper justification, schedule impacts, and adequate budget and funding
  • Reviewing contractor, vendor, and consultant invoices for capital projects
  • Ensuring that relevant cost management procedures and reporting requirements are incorporated where appropriate on invitations to tender
  • Preparing Project Change Notices in collaboration with Project Manager, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction and maintaining a Change Log
  • Working in coordination with contract administrators on contractbudgets, progress payments, valuations of contract variations and compensationevents as well as contractfinancial close-out

Skills / Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree from a recognized university in engineering, or a recognized business program
  • 7-10+ years of progressive project services or cost control experience, in an EPC or EPCM environment
  • Effective communication skills and critical thinking capabilities
  • Experience with Power Transmission & Distribution Projects is desirable
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Primavera P6 (scheduling)
  • Proven extensive knowledge of engineering controls, cost control, planning, scheduling, project reporting as well as procurement/contracts, construction management, and document control
  • Proven ability to work at an advanced level with all Microsoft Office applications, with major strengths in Excel
  • Ability to develop new, proprietary and innovative solutions to current processes is an asset
  • Proven track record of successful project completion on time and on budget, exceeding expectations
