Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer

Burnaby, BC

Working closely with senior engineers/project managers and design support staff for projects mainly in and around, but not limited to Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley areas, and providing guidance to junior level and field technical staff.. Taking on the role as Engineer of Record (EoR), or providing design engineering support on project assignments.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

The successful candidate will be involved throughout the life cycle of projects, such as:
  • Preparing proposal and scopes and budgets
  • Supporting geotechnical site investigations
  • Conducting geotechnical analysis and preparing geotechnical reports
  • Supporting design submissions such as Issued for Permit drawings and Issued For Construction drawings
  • Preparing Letters of Assurance documents to Building Authority, as required
  • Support project construction meetings and technical inquiries
  • Conducting field reviews to support EoR quality assurance work and preparing field review reporting
  • Preparing design memos/letters during construction, as required
  • Preparing Letters of Compliance documents to Building Authority, as required
  • Preparing/supporting close out documents, as required


What your experience looks like
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or geological engineering
  • Registration as professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC)
  • 5 to 8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong technical skills, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player with proven ability to work as a member of project teams
  • Excellent organizing, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics applications such as MS Word, Excel and AutoCAD
  • Experience in engineering programs (gINT, SlopeW, MSEW, etc.)
  • Must possess valid driver's license to travel to and from client office and project sites
  • Project management experience an asset


The salary range for this role is between $105,000 to $125,000. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
