Reporting directly to the Account Management Manager, the Account Manager – (Intermediate) is responsible for achieving and-or exceeding membership retention target for assigned book of business typically comprised of 100+ lives employer groups. . Essential Duties and Responsibilities Overall management of assigned book of business Conducts new group administrative meetings educating customer on Blue Shield benefits, products, services, policies and procedures Primary point of contact develops and maintains strong relationships with producers and employer groups Conducts mid-year review identifying specialty products growth opportunities, wellness engagement and issue resolution Consultative producer engagement through presentation of healthcare data and reporting Strategic planning leading assigned team in achieving retention and specialty benefit targets Oversees renewal issuance process Executes new business and renewal implementations Delivers superior sales and service experience for producers and employers Educates employer on BSC cost of healthcare initiatives, programs and value added services Proactively communicates healthcare trends Knowledgeable of Blue Shield's products, tools and services creating solutions for customer needs Consults customers understanding needs as it relates to service and cost of health care management Participates in finalist meetings Develops and manages renewals for 100+ member groups. Directly responsible for the successful completion of renewal sales Develops and maintains strong relationships with producers and employer groups Monitors cases for performance and proactively talks to the producer and or customer if the case is performing poorly (financial or ser vice issues) Engages with producers in a consultative manner Leads customer strategy development to successfully sell renewals Provides leadership to assigned team to achieve target goals for renewals, ancillary sales and profitability Delivers superior sales and service experience for producers and employers Identifies and pursues opportunities to upsell ancillary products Assumes consultative role in understanding and meeting employer needs for service and cost of health care management Monitors on-going performance and communicates expectations and results Supports all retention initiatives by developing strategies for approaching and converting new prospects
Education Requirements Bachelor degree and three plus years of experience in insurance-employee benefit sales or equivalent combination of education and experience and sales management experience Working knowledge of the health care industry and related benefit products and services Strong knowledge of financing methodologies and strategies Proven track record of understanding the customer and their underlying needs Proven excellence in account management skills and account retention Excellent communication skills Maintains valid driver’s license Current Life Agent License with California Department of Insurance Strong PC skills
