Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking a Meter Integration and Automation Engineer who will specify, develop, team, promote, and build complete metering systems. These systems will include meter hardware, communications networks, data collection, data bases, data exchange, analytics, and reports. Combining multiple SEL and third-party components into a turn-key system solving enduser requirements is key to success in this role. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Strong interest in learning metering fundamentals, power quality compliance, communications architectures, industry protocols, database management, integrating components using APIs with a focus on a highly positive user experience.
Identify new integration needs and opportunities and guide the R&D metering team on new product development.
Collaborate with our sales and services teams to deliver end-to-end solutions by proposing, quoting, developing, and implementing end-to-end metering systems.
Diagnose customer reported problems with integration and communication features and document issues for developers.
Provide technical and market analysis to evaluate proposed products or enhancements.
Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operation and World Class Manufacturing principles.

B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
Demonstrated experience with serial, Ethernet, and multiple communication protocols and their application in an electrical power system environment
Typically 2+ years of experience in setup and configuration of a broad range of network devices and interfaces
Functional knowledge of databases and integrating components using APIs
Fundamental knowledge and typically 2+ years experience with AC power systems, energy metering, and power quality
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)
Typically 2+ years of experience in electric power SCADA or EMS practices
Experience contributing to product development teams
