Job Description

This position will create, develop and manage business-to-businesspartnerships in defined market verticals.  Daily activities will include prospecting, cold calling, scheduling and making presentations, evaluating technical business needs, project management, quotations and driving revenue to meet sales goals.  This role will act as a technical solutions expert on all hardware sold by Obvius.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the development of an annual sales plan in conjunction with Measurement & Verification Sales Management and Measurement & Verification group budget goals
  2. Handle all day-to-day pre-sales, sales and fulfillment needs for customers within an assigned vertical and accounts
  3. Create demand for Leviton products through a very aggressive outbound call routine focused on new business opportunities with prospects within assigned vertical
  4. Handle and/or delegate technical service questions from customers as they occur; escalate time consuming technical support issues expeditiously to technical services
  5. Report activities of the sales territory on a monthly basis to the Manager, Business Development
  6. Travel to industry marketing events to include trade shows, technical conferences, and other opportunities as directed for the express purpose of generating new business opportunities
  7. Understand and develop skill set related to technologies that interface with Data Acquisition platforms such as meters, sensors, etc.
  8. Be the Subject Mater Expert on Data Acquisition Technology for your assigned verticals
  9. Interface with Product Management on customer driven requests for new technology enhancements and provide substantiating data to support business case for such enhancements
  10. Responsible for a sales territory size up to $2.5 million


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Marketing, Business or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of technical salesexperiencepreferred
  • Experience in the energy, renewable energy or building automation market preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must possess leadership, relationship-building, relationship management and teamwork skills
  • Must have outstanding oral, written and verbal communication and presentation skills as well as negotiation skills
  • Must have thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Must possess a proven track record of high sales performance, including meeting/exceeding sales targets or very recognizable sales skills with potential to develop
  • Must be comfortable in communicating with every level of an organization from top level executives to field personnel
  • Must have the ability and desire to learn technically complex products
  • Must have the entrepreneurial drive to succeed
