Job Introduction

Co-Ex-Tec, a division of Magna Closures, is hiring an Injection Moulding Set UpTechnician Lead for our Concordlocation to ensure the continuous operation of all plant equipment and machinery. If you have in depth injection mouldingexperienceon large tonnage moulding machines and are a results-driven, hands-on individual, we invite you to join our team.

Major Responsibilities

•Complete all relevant documentation for mould change.
•Verify tool specific setup (i.e. Program, cycle time).
•Ensure the process is effective for all shifts.
•Troubleshoot and work with other departments to solve problems.
•Carry out and coordinate mould change activities according to procedure and instructions.
•Prepare all required pre-mould change activities.
•Housekeeping: ensure all work areas are kept clean and organized.
•Setup all moulds as required (i.e. First/Last off).
•Responsible for all technical aspects of mould change, including:
oSetting and verifying parameters;
oOrganizing work area
•Responsible for technical aspects of moulding, including:
oQuality problems; and
oTroubleshooting quality concerns.
•Responsible for part quality and has the authority to stop production, if necessary, to correct quality problems.
•Responsible to notify Supervisor and/or Injection Department Manager of defective equipment, tools or parts (ie. bolts, clamps etc.) to ensure we are installing and operating our moulds in a safe manner. Examples of “defective” include but are not limited to worn, leaking air hoses to impact gun, damaged platen hoses/inserts, bolt heads worn, bolt threads damaged etc.
•Initiate machine process, make adjustments within process tolerance and recommend any changes for improved efficiencies to the Moulding Manager.
•Continually monitor all processes related to Injection Moulding.
•Analyze and resolve any process problems. Resolve any product non-conformity issues that may arise per the request from Supervisor.
•Setup and startup of new tools and resins for trial.
•Conform to the implementation of continuous process improvement in the moulding department.

•Able to work in a Team environment.

Knowledge and Education

•Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
•Ten (10) years minimum Injection Moulding experience large tonnage machines preferred.
•Extended knowledge of developed standards and methods. Conducts analysis and possesses practical experience. Prioritizes and solves problems with supervision.

•Course work relating to Injection Moulding an asset.
•Good communication skills (in English).
•The ability to write technical reports.
•Be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
•Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic components and systems.
•Basic understanding of electrical circuits.
•Physically able to perform mould changes and other job duties.
•Flexible to work shifts.
•Must be a certified forklift operator
•Basic knowledge of SPC.
•Must have experience processing plastics and setting tools.
•Knowledge of automation systems and controls a must.
•Support process and other activities consistent with departmental expectations and goals.
