Job Summary:

Responsible for evolving the Bank's IT infrastructure to meet the needs of growth, acquisition and will cover all aspects of infrastructure from infrastructure technology in the midrange, mainframe, network, information security and data centers. Responsible for strengthen the capability to design for resiliency, scalability and capacity; responsible for documenting policy, principles and standards and help their team to apply these within projects; responsible for evaluating emerging technology and defining how they can be leveraged within the Bank to improve capability, reduce cost and risk. The position serves as a critical role within the Bank's Enterprise Architecture Program to position the Bank as a top 10 financial institution by designing the target the Bank IT infrastructure strategy, roadmap and standards.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Architecture and Incubation for Infrastructure, Cloud and Security for MUFG. This includes all aspects of infrastructure technology including desktop, mobile, platform, OS, infrastructure software, devices, appliances, monitoring, systems management, storage, data center, network, external partner interfaces, cloud, information security and capacity management
  • Manage and review the team who provide Physical Architecture design solutions for project level architecture, as well as multiple Agile Incubation Development teams
  • Set Infrastructure/Security Strategy: Evaluate as-is environment, assess capability gaps and define target state. Identify roadmap for gap closure. Lead the development of business cases for driving strategic investment in Infrastructure technology.
  • Standards Management: Work with Engineering teams in the organization to set the standards, patterns and reference architectures. Define strategies for Resiliency, Security Disaster Recovery, Data Center and Hosting. Manage exceptions to standards and drive to closure of exceptions
  • Emerging Trends Evaluation: Engage with external partners/vendors to identify emerging trends and help align to MUFG’s needs
  • Responsible for managing 15-20 staff who support projects on infrastructure and security architecture concerns. Responsible for directly supervising staff, including interviewing, hiring staff and the termination of staff; recommending salary changes, job promotions; setting work hours, conducting counseling /performance reviews, and planning of the staff's work


  • 15+ years of experience and deep subject-matter expertise in Infrastructure Architecture and/or Engineering functions
  • Deep understanding of the transformational role of infrastructure and security technology – its current state and the direction that infrastructure-related technology is heading; evaluate and recommend future infrastructure technologies/solutions.
  • Experience in managing staff and directing multiple infrastructure and security projects
  • Requires team and stakeholder management skills, and ability to manage a diverse workforce and partners, including effective delegation, conflict resolution, negotiation and ability to influence diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Requires the ability to communicate effectively to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to leverage relationships across the organization to accomplish tasks
  • Ability to influence leaders at multiple levels of an organization to buy into, support, and adopt change
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain productive business relationships with internal partners and external vendors
  • Require skills to drive an enterprise program in a matrixed organization
  • Contribute to and engage with the IT Governance Committee and Board of Directors, when required
