As part of an agile team, your skill will be empowered to addresses the development of required Cloud patterns and Software Defined Infrastructure covering a broad range of solutions to include: compute, storage, databases, networking, analytics, machine learning, and security.

Responsible for creating, modifying, maintaining and supporting infrastructure and individual system components that enable business functions and IT Services. Balance availability, security, efficiency and functional requirements to help provide an optimized production service. Identify and manage existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and controlled.

Tasks

• Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
• Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
• Follows written risk and compliance policies and procedures for business activities.
• Independently designs scalable infrastructure, provides oversight and priority for system change – reserves execution for complex implementations, automates service delivery and maintenance tasks, provides direction and priority for monitoring and tooling activities.
• Independently resolves complex production issues, and leads troubleshooting of end-to-end solutions that span multiple systems
• Leads analysis of end-to-end system failures to identify opportunities across multiple systems
• Independently experiments with new patterns and technologies
• Helps establish and improve engineering best practices, concepts, and patterns
• Understands the customer and independently identifies solutions and ideas for the customer and independently evaluates potential solutions
• Mentor and coach junior engineers.

Minimum Education/Experience requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in related field of study OR 4 years of related experience in lieu of a degree, in addition to the minimum years required
• 6+ years of infrastructure experience demonstrating depth of technical understanding within a specific discipline(s)/technology(s) to include 2 years' experience in Systems Operations environment supporting complex environment deployment and infrastructure management activities

Preferred Education/Experience:

• Strong experience in GoLang, Java or Python. Also, strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) and design principles
• Strong experience in REST API development leveraging Docker and container platforms such as Kubernetes, OpenShift for application deployments
• Strong experience with application security using PKI, JWT, OAuth, Kerberos and other security technologies for securing APIs and/or integrations with different systems.
• Moderate experience developing against traditional RDBMS, NoSQL and object storage solutions
• Moderate experience in Linux command line and tooling
• Moderate experience in CI/CD pipeline development using tools like Jenkins or GitLab
• Moderate experience in source code management and semantic versioning (SMVR) using Git, GitHub or GitLab
• Moderate experience with a growing maturity in automation tools like Hashicorp Terraform, Ansible, Puppet and/or Chef
• Moderate experience with logging and monitoring technologies such as ELK, Splunk, Grafana and Prometheus
• Moderate experience building web applications using frameworks like Angular2/ReactJS

Compensation:

USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market position. The salary range for this position is: $106,800 - $192,300.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.

Geographical Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay provided to eligible employees working in locations where market pay levels are above the national average.

Shift premium will be addressed on an individual basis for applicable roles that are consistently scheduled for non-core hours.
