Infrastructure Engineer I

The Role:

At Voltaiq, we receive battery test data from research labs, manufacturers, and deployed energy systems around the world. As part of our Infrastructure Team, you will be responsible for the availability, security, and scalability of the Voltaiq data platform and web services. You will enable the development of scalable systems for data processing, storage, and access, supporting the data analysis activities of our customers and data science team. You will learn how data is used in battery research and manufacturing, and in the systems of mobile devices, electric vehicles, and the power grid. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in the design and build of scalable deployment automation and continuous integration.
• Manage server instances in AWS and Azure cloud.
• Plan and provision infrastructure to ensure sufficient hardware resources for the application to scale.
• Support development process with dev, test, and staging server environments with continuous integration.
• Build and integrate tools and frameworks for operational monitoring and alerts.
• Troubleshoot operational issues to meet uptime requirements.
• Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for escalations.

Qualifications:

• Passion for relentless automation and ruthless testing.
• Proficiency with scripting languages. We primarily use Python.
• Technical operations experience running a scalable SaaS application in a Linux environment.
• Experience with Postgres or a like relational database.
• Experience troubleshooting and conducting root-cause analysis on OS, database, file system, networking, application, and server process issues.
• Familiarity with configuration management tools. We use Terraform and Ansible.
• Familiarity with log and stats processing. We use RSysLog, Loggly, InfluxDB, and Grafana.
• Familiarity with scalable, distributed, cloud-based systems.
• Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment. We use Jenkins.
