This position will support the Marine Corps by providing System Administration of the servers, work stations, switches and networks of the electronic security systems controlling and monitoring access to the Marine Corps facilities. This position also ensures these systems are compliant with all DoD cybersecurity guidelines.
IAO Roles & Responsibilities:
Implements and maintains standards, procedures, and guidelines to promote the security and uninterrupted operation of computer-based application systems within the Marine Corps Electronic Security Systems.
Ensures that all Marine Corps system IA-related processes are monitored and accessible to properly authorized individuals approved by the Marine Corps AO.
Ensures that all IS users and operators read, understand, and sign the appropriate System
Authorization Access Request (SAAR) (i.e., NIPRNet) prior to receiving access to IT resources.
Ensures that IA and IA-enabled software, hardware, and firmware are in compliance with the appropriate Marine Corps AO -approved security configurations.
Coordinates security procedures with the ISSM, initiates investigative procedures for securityevents, and implements protective or corrective measures when an IA incident or vulnerability is discovered.
Ensures that Marine Corps ESS Information System back-up and recovery processes are tested (initially and annually thereafter).
Coordinates local system security with local security policies and procedures as required to comply with DoD, DON, and Marine Corps IA policies and directives.
Coordinates with local technicians and PMO staff to develop, refine, and test the local IA Contingency Plan and Disaster Recovery Plan, which are part of the overall Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP), to ensure confidentiality, integrity, availability, and recoverability of critical ISs and data is maintained during and after a disaster. Additionally, coordinates with the appropriate representatives to ensure that the Contingency and Disaster Recovery Plans meet command objectives and are tested prior to system operation and annually thereafter.
System Administrator Roles & Responsibilities:
Applies technical skills and experience in managing selected Windows and Linux servers and numerous workstations supporting a group of physical security specialists.
Analyzes internal or external customer needs, and determines equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems by means of automated systems.
Develops customized solutions to customer/user problems.
Establishes system parameters and formats, ensures hardware and software compatibility, and coordinates and/or modifies user requirements in terms of existing and projected computer capacity and capabilities.
Ensures data integrity by evaluating, proposing, implementing and managing software and hardware solutions.
Recommends and implements system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
Performs audits as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM).
Ensures network (LAN/WAN, telecommunications, and voice security access and protects against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.
Performs otherresponsibilities as assigned.
Must have at least six (6) years troubleshootingnetwork access problems and implementing networksecurity policies and procedures.
Must have at least eight (8) years of experience in relevant Information Assurance job skills including but not limited to Certification and Accreditation, Certification Test and Evaluation, and Security Test and Evaluation.
Must possess a minimum Securityor a Computer Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Computer Information Systems Security Manager (CISSM) or DISCO certification for InfoSec Security Specialist
Top Secret clearance
MS Server, Windows, CCNA and/or VMware VCP certifications are strongly desired.
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals performing a variety of tasks.
