The Information Architect will work as part of the Global Finance Technology MIS team to achieve a number of strategic deliverables and needs tonegotiate, agree, guide and deliver artifacts such as Conceptual and Logical Data Models, Data Sourcing Contracts and govern their implementation and traceability from firm-wide business glossary (DataBook) to Logical and Physical Data models.


The Information Architect will be considered the subject matter expert on Data, Information Architecture and Management, Metadata and will workingclosely and collaboratively with the project delivery teams, ensuring that the design is implementable and that delivery is consistent with the agreed design. Information architect will also be primarily responsible other tasks associated with data governance.


Key responsibilities

  • Hands-on data modelling utilizing tools such as ERwin, MagicDraw
  • Analyze attribute requirements in detail and arrive at optimized model
  • Collaborate with business teams in order to understand, translate and capture the requirements for Conceptual and Logical Data Models, Interface Specifications/Data Sourcing contracts
  • Create and review Conceptual and Logical Data Models with various stakeholders
  • Create and maintain appropriate metadata for various information architecture related artifacts
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance to data framework and design considerations
  • Analyze data using advanced SQL
  • Develop and manage the data modelling best practices, patterns and standards
  • Provide guidelines for Big Data implementations (both relational and non-relational)
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Technology IA and firm-wide Architecture group to develop consistent, accurate and complete information architecture artifacts

The Corporate Technology (CT) organization develops applications and provides technology support for corporate functions across JPMorgan Chase, including Global Finance, Corporate Treasury, Risk Management, Human Resources, Compliance, Legal, and all functions within the Corporate Administrative Office (CAO). 


Finance Technology, part of CT, has a charter to meet the technology needs of the Global Finance organization across MIS, General Ledger, Regulatory, Forecasting and reporting functions.  Finance Technology is embarking upon a multi-year project to reassess and design the future state Management Information System (MIS) function for the firm.  

This role requires a wide variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

  • Undergraduate degree in a technology discipline required
  • 5+ years’ experience on software development projects
  •  Excellent understanding of data management principles and information architecture
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of Data Modelling and Meta-modelling
  • Knowledge of core Information Architecture capabilities, including Master and Reference Data Management, Data Quality (DQ), Metadata Management, Data Integration, Data Migration and Data Modelling
  • Knowledge of different data modelling methodologies with the ability to read and understand data models presented in a variety of formats
  • Ability to understand business architecture and translate into information architecture
  • Advanced knowledge of various financial instruments is desirable
  • Experience delivering solutions leveraging Agile SDLC and engineering best practices and tooling
  • Successful track record on several major technology implementation projects
  • Data centric mindset and ability to analyze business requirement from data perspective
  • Excellent team spirit and ability to work in collaborative environment
  • Strong written and oral presentation / communication skills – the ability to convey complex information simply and clearly to senior business leaders
  • Big Data Exposure e.g Hadoop/ HDFS/ Spark
