Job Description

Siemens Mobility provides efficient and coordinated transportation of people and goods by rail - including rolling stock, rail automation, rail electrification, and service. We craft and manufacture across the entire spectrum of rolling stock, including commuter and regional passenger trains, light rail and streetcars, metros, locomotives, passenger coaches, and high-speed trainsets. Cities and Railroads also rely on us to provide traction-power substations and electricity transmission, as well as signaling and control technology for freight and passenger rail and transit systems.

As an Industrial Engineer for the Bogie Weld Robot line, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that production operations are ready to go at the scheduled start of production date. You will be programming new programs and you will be in charge of setting up jigs and fixtures for the automation job. Also, you will develop and improve the current robot equipment to ensure that we will further increase the efficiency and the quality of our components.

What you will be doing:

Build programs for new parts or existing parts

Troubleshoot robot programs, robot weld process, and robot equipment

Improve tooling and fixtures for robots to allow a higher output of components

Improve the quality, and safety of robotic automation

Improve current robot equipment with new technology and/or better technical solutions

Outline, initiate, and implement additional robots to be used on-site

Define which components can be welded on the robot and own the change over from manual to robot weld

What you will need to be successful

Robotic Welder Programming: 5 years (Required)

GMAW (MIG) welding of steel: 5 years (Required)

Work experience in the rail business or related production is preferred but not required.

Firm project management skills, including developing project plans, timelines/schedules, budgets, proposed layouts, resource requirements, calculating ROI, etc.

Practical knowledge of the lean toolbox and ability to apply lean principles to reduce waste.

A history of "hands-on" approach to problem-solving and countermeasure implementation within own areas of responsibility.

Proven understanding of tooling and fixtures for manufacturing and its impact on dimensional accuracy and quality.

A history of driving projects in adverse conditions.

High school diploma or GED

Required travel: Some travel may be required

We would be impressed if you had:

Programming experience with IGM robots

BS or advanced degree (or foreign equivalent) in Industrial, Welding, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on welding processes, production setup, and manufacturing

Six Sigma Master Black Belt / Six Sigma Black Belt / Lean Expert Certification

Comfort with transferring technical knowledge, manufacturing knowledge, and proprietary technologies from lead factories to market factories

Knowledge of MRP / ERP systems

The salary range for this position in Sacramento, CA is $95,400- $128,800 per year and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation.
