Industrial Engineer/Program Manager
For the initial 2 years the position will be weighted towards program management activities as part of a small team coordinating product launches and consolidations in the growing, dynamic and highly successful Metal Forming Business Unit (MFBU). During this period the MFBU (18 plants in North America) is experiencing a much higher than usual level of launch activity and the selected candidate with program manage several launches at the same time. During this period the candidate will use their Industrial Engineering (IE) skills to aid and improve the success of the launches and as time progresses the daily activities with move towards a more typical IE role developing, completing and supporting initiatives throughout the MFBU.
Activities include but are not limited to:
Providing technical and program management support and consulting on major cross-departmental programs or initiatives.
Coordinating cross-functional launch teams to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of each program launch.
Liaising with customers and vendors to develop program plans to meet overall program expectations, coordinate unscheduled changes, and find solutions for unforeseen issues.
Consulting on coordination of critical multi-sectional programs involving customers, vendors, and consultants.
Communicating to AAM Management, Plant Management and customer’s; program status, upcoming milestones, accomplishments and major problem areas.
Responsible for running complex projects and programs; which includes handling tasks that are involved in designing and development, as well as production.
Ensures that all the programs follow the standard procedures that are used in the management and deployment of programs.
Gathering and using data to statistically analyze manufacturing processes.
Coordinating and implementing activities to improve flow, processing and overall cost of manufacturing processes.
Producing equipment layout outs, process flow documentation and human resource scrolls for new and modified manufacturing processes.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred.
Minimum 5 years automotive Industrial Engineering experience.
Proven ability to manage launch and improvement programs.
Tier 1 / 2 experience preferred.
Proven interpersonal, facilitation and diplomacy skills.
Ability to develop effective working relationships.
Strong program and relationship management skills.
Prior forging or machining experience.
