Job Role Summary

As a member of ExxonMobil Chemical Company’s (EMCC) global specialty polymers technology or manufacturing organization, the engineer will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for optimization and betterment of existing process technology as well as technical troubleshooting and manufacturing support.  The engineer will have an in-depth understanding of the current state of process technology in the specialty polymers industry, and will create and disseminate new process technology within the EMCC organization.  The role will also include work in multi-disciplinary teams to solve problems and improve the performance at EMCC’s world wide network of specialty polymers plants through the application of sound engineering principles

Primary Job Functions

  • Applies personnel and process safety principles within EMCC facilities
  • Drives improvement within EMCC operations through technical contribution and innovation
  • Participates in global process networks and network initiative implementation
  • Supports advanced or complex troubleshooting and support of site process operations
  • Supports implementation of new technology developments
  • Supports new product development and plant implementation
  • Manages site intellectual property obligations
  • Requires 10-15% domestic and international travel

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical manufacturing technical support
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in polymer manufacturing operations
  • Prior experience in the development and implementation of small to medium size projects
  • Geographic flexibility with first assignment in Baytown, Tx

  • Expert in the use of accepted industry technical tools and methods
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Effective verbal and written skills (e.g. technical reports and presentations)
  • Interacts effectively with all levels of the organization on technical topics
  • Leadership and initiative in identifying and resolving technical challenges
  • Good presentation skills, capable of representing the company to external entities
  • Understands economic/market conditions as they relate to use, acquisition, and development of technology
  • Team player within the EMCC technical community
