As a Hyperscale SSD Business Line Manager in the Storage Business Unit (SBU) at Micron Technology, you will be charged with defining and executing to Micron's storage vision. You will be expected to work closely with customers, engineering, sales, marketing and manufacturing teams to define leading storage solutions around the use of solid state technologies that help Enterprise and Cloud customers reshape their storage operating model to radically increase efficiency, reliability and performance.

You must have extensive technical domain expertise in NAND Flash and Solid State Drives (SSDs), with a focus on storage and solid state devices in hyperscale environments, combined with strong business acumen, to provide deep analysis of new technologies and hardware/software architectures while simultaneously judging the market potential of those emerging solutions. You will also be expected to have a proven track record of defining complex and cross-functional product strategies, along with extensive customer-facing experience.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will center on leading cross-functional efforts to define Micron's Enterprise and Cloud SSD storage solutions, which will require outstanding skills in analytics, market segmentation, business case development, sales enablement and the ability to develop/leverage relationships across the industry, outreach to Micron's customer base, represent Micron at key events, and drive strategic planning initiatives within the organization.


Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:


Product Strategy and Competitive Landscape

·        Articulate the competitive landscape through identifying competitive and alternative offerings in the market. Assess strengths and weaknesses and develop a strategy for winning against the competition

·        Define the market, map needs with target markets, and analyze the market segments to actively pursue. Ensure that the targeted segments are large enough to support the current and future business of the product

·        Leverage the organizations distinctive competence through unique abilities to deliver value to the market

·        Discover problems in the market by interviewing customers, recent evaluators and untapped, potential customers. Validate urgent problems to show their pervasiveness in the market

·        Create a business plan by performing an objective analysis of a potential market opportunity to provide a basis for investment. Articulate what you learned in the market and quantify the risk, including a financial model


Roadmaps and Business Cases

·        Define Microns long term roadmap and business plan for SSD products, services, and solution offerings to fit Enterprise and Cloud customer needs

·        Develop an integrated product portfolio that maximizes Micron’s opportunity in the Enterprise SSD market

·        Produce the financial business cases that support the roadmap decisions


Planning and Positioning

·        Plan product positioning and describe the product by its ability to solve market problems. Create internal positioning documents that will be used to develop external messages focused on each key buyer or persona

·        Create a distribution strategy and determine which channels best align with your markets’ buying preferences

·        Articulate the buying process by defining the archetypical buyers involved in the purchasing process of your products and services

·        Prioritize user personas and problems so that the appropriate products can be built

·        Understand planning requirements and illustrate the market problems in a “story” that puts the problem in context. Use scenarios as one component of requirements

·        Assist with the establishment of a pricing model, schedules, guidelines and procedures


Go to Market

·        Articulate the marketing plan, strategies and tactics for generating awareness and leads for the upcoming fiscal period, including key programs and events with measurements and goals

·        Define specific plans for customer acquisition, including sales plays and enablement

·        Monitor and analyze product profitability through key performance indicators to determine how well the product is performing in the market, and drive key improvement initiatives


New Product Launch

·        Conduct a technology assessment of technology assets and the determination of the ways they can be leveraged

·        Contribute to the delivery of product information to qualified buyers in support of existing sales efforts

·        Support innovation through your teams creative spirit in solving market problems by leveraging your organizations distinctive competencies

·        Measure program effectiveness and tune product marketing programs to ensure alignment with corporate goals

·        Ensure all departments are prepared for new product launch releases and all items are completed to launch the product externally



·        Exhibit thought leadership by creating and delivering market relevant information (including webinars, blogs, eBooks) to influence customers, buyers, industry specialists, research analysts, the press and other third parties

·        Create standard presentations, demos and scripts that can be used by the sales team in a typical sales process

·        Provide product and market expertise for events such as conferences, tradeshows, webinars and seminars

·        Provide ongoing support for the sales channel. Contribute to finding opportunities to make support more repeatable


Education Required

·        Bachelors Degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field of study

·        Masters Degree in Business Administration/Management preferred


Experience Required

·        8+ years combined experience in product management and development in storage or a related field

·        3+ years direct experience in hyperscale infrastructure and storage services, architecture experience a plus

·        Solid State Drive product experience preferred



·        Proven ability to grasp complex financial, technical, and marketing information to develop product plans and strategies

·        Proven experience writing marketing requirements documents that bridge customer/technical needs into clearly defined features and benefits

·        Strong communication and presentation skills including to senior management

·        Demonstrated business acumen and critical thinking skills

·        Experience leading cross-functional teams and working across multiple locations

·        Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
