Human Resources Manager, Retail – Outlets West: Become the Newest Member of the Vans Family

As one of our dedicated and passionate Human Resources Managers for our Retail team, you will have the important responsibility of supporting the engagement and development of talent within your assigned region. As the business partner for your region you will be responsible for fostering strong team dynamics, protecting our company culture grounded in our history and heritage, and developing a strategic plan to improve employee experience and deliver strong results. You have exceptional people skills but are also extremely strategic and analytical. These strengths allow you to build effective partnerships and influence leaders. Your efforts will directly help us grow and expand our Americas region and develop our next generation leaders.

How You Will Make a Difference:

You will foster positive and effective team dynamics with a focus on proactive management to drive retention and engagement. Leverage employee data, feedback, and EEO planning to conduct root cause analysis and support company focus on maintaining a diverse workforce. Champion our inclusion through our culture of belonging to ensure every voice matter, and all employees feel welcome, comfortable and safe. You will be an advocate for regional store needs related to HR centers of expertise to ensure necessary tools, resources, training, and process updates fit business needs. Maintain a focus on regional bench strength and conduct succession and talent related meetings and training to drive employee readiness and internal promotions. Your diverse experiences and background enable you to provide a unique perspective to fuel our global growth. Additionally, you are inclusive and value differing points of view. You will champion organizational development programs for regional stores including performance management, leadership development, as well as individual employee programs. You will maintain knowledge of industry trends, federal and state employment legislation and ensures company compliance by updating and implementing company policies and procedures to ensure compliance for multiple states. Oversees employee recognition programs for assigned region and supports the development of new programs to drive employee engagement. Utilizes existing tools to support workforce planning within assigned region and supports the development of new programs to ensure we have the right people, in the right place, at the right time.

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 5-7 years

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or related field, and a minimum of 6 years' experience managing employee relations in a multi-unit environment.
  • Ability to build and conduct reporting in Excel and conduct ad hoc analysis to generate insights within your employee population
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (written, oral and presentation skills)
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and handle multiple assignments simultaneously and autonomously in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and other business practices and ensure alignment with strategic goals and legal requirements
  • Ability to forge strong partnerships and work collaboratively with business leaders and HR colleagues while demonstrating a capacity to influence all levels of the organization.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required 15% amount of time.
  • Willing and able to work additional hours as required
