Job Summary:

Responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the HR function at his/her respective PAMF division, site and/or assigned service line; establishes employment relations, administers consistent and appropriate HR policy and practices, and provides consultative services to management and staff for Human Resources related matters.

Accountability 1 Partners with PAMF leaders to ensure regulatory compliance

  • Interprets and administers Human Resources policies and divisional practices
  • Provides consultative services surrounding employee development, performance management, conflict management and disciplinary actions
  • Reviews policies and suggests updates as needed
  • Participates in A-team and divisional management meetings

Accountability 2 Employee relations

  • Investigates and responds to employee relation issues such as employee complaints, harassment or discrimination allegations, etc.  Conducts internal investigations as necessary
  • Responds to outside agency charges as required
  • Assists with employee recognition events both locally and system-wide

Accountability 3 Acts as Change Agent

  • Develops networks and builds relationships across the organization
  • Demonstrates ability to obtain information and gain cooperation to achieve desired outcomes
  • Perceived as a team player
  • Promotes and supports system-wide initiatives

Accountability 4 Represents Human Resources and PAMF in a positive manner

  • Convenes and/or actively participates in committees/task forces requiring Human Resources participation
  • Facilitates New Employee Orientation
  • Promotes a positive employee environment and models service excellence to staff and patients

Accountability 5 Liaison between PAMF and S3 and Sutter CoEs

  • Consults with Compensation, Benefits, Payroll and Benefits to ensure plans, policies and practices are competitive and compliant, and address local market needs

Follows the commitment to excellence and treats patients, families, visitors and each other with courtesy, dignity, respect and professionalism

Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelors or equivalent experience/education.

  • Minimum 5 years’ management level experience in Human Resources; experience in health care environment strongly desired 
  • Employee relations and internal investigations
  • Solid foundation as HR generalist including federal and state wage and hour laws/regulations
  • Representing organization at hearings and to outside agencies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel , etc., required
  • Experience with Taleo and Lawson systems a big plus
  • Proven ability to defuse intense situations
  • Understanding of service recovery methods
  • Ability to work autonomously but also contribute to team dynamic
  • Working in a union environment a plus.
