Role Summary:

Responsible for leadership and administration of the human resources activities and  within areas assigned. Provides guidance and direction in regards to policies and programs, develops and recommends new and/or improved policies and plans while facilitating alignment as appropriate.  May supervise otherHR staff members.

General Responsibilities:

Strategy & Administration

  • Understands, utilizes and promotes systems and processes that impact the HR function
  • Supports the corporate strategy by participating in and supporting the objectives of company human resource programs and policies
  • Establishes and maintains positive employee relations, including resolving complex issues as they arise.
  • Leads/facilitates recruiting and interviewing process to meet staffing needs
  • Stays up to date and ensures compliance to all federal, state, and local regulations and laws including workers compensation, wage and hour, and other
  • Serves as expert resource to organization on HR issues by acting as a consultant to managers regarding employee, policy, and strategic issues
  • Provides guidance/advice to HR team members on specific or complex issues
  • Provides advice and coaching at various organizational levels
  • Supervises HR staff as assigned
  • Works closely with staffing organizations to ensure the success and compliance of staffing efforts
  • Leads HR team or multi-disciplined teams in  problem solving as needed
  • Provides HR representation to teams and task forces as needed
  • Understand systems and processes with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Frequent and expert use of systems including Kronos, ICON, MQ1, Taleo, Outlook, Microsoft Office
  • Assists in administration and coaching regarding performance reviews, Job Content Document development at all levels, training needs analysis, benefits, compensation, employee activities and celebrations, promotions, and otherHR activities
  • Maintains accurate files and records
  • Facilitates communication within business unit and HR team including leading monthly shift meetings
  • Conducts investigations as needed with appropriate leadership members.
  • Maintains confidentiality
  • Drafts, administers and interprets company departmental policies and procedures as needed.
  • Actively participates as part of the HR Operations team and business unit operations team
  • Serves as backup to otherHR Managers as needed and provides direction to HR Generalist, HR Representative, or HR Administrator
  • Conducts and continuously improves new employee assimilation in conjunction with supervisors and shift teams, including participation in Work Ramping Orientation and otherorientation activities
  • Provides effective counsel and mediation on education/development/career path issues
  • Maintains accurate health and safety records and participates in safety initiatives
  • Instrumental in planning and implementing business unit changes and improvements
  • Participates in HR Forums
  • Responsible for reporting of applicable department or business unit metrics

Minimum Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in related discipline with significant experience in HR field OR Associates degree in related discipline with 10 years of experience and professional certification
  • Basic accounting and financial analysis skills
  • Ability to manage cross-departmental relationships
  • Extensive knowledge of employment law including FMLA, unemployment compensation, wage and hour
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office
  • Analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
  • Models exemplary company culture behavior and good judgment

Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements:

  • Professional HR certification
  • MA in related discipline
  • Strong organizational development and strategic planning experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Strong employee relations background
