Human Resources Learning & Development Specialist

Position Description

The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for executing business unit learning and development initiatives including but not limited to: career management, change management, coaching, competency management, development, learning, mentoring, and/or performance management.


Position Competencies

Position Responsibilities:

Learning Programs

  • Execute the strategies that will ensure that managers and colleagues are skilled to address current and future challenges with the aid of learning resources, tools and experiences.
  • Apply best practice learning methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).

Analyze - Identify the learning problem, the goals and objectives, the audience's needs, existing knowledge, and any other relevant characteristics. Consider the learning environment, any constraints, the delivery options, and the timeline for the project. Provide a learning map or course specification worksheets.

iDesign - Provide detailed storyboards and prototypes; include the look and feel, graphic design, user-interface and other related content.

Develop - Create the content and learning materials based on the design efforts.

Implement - Put the plan into action. Develop the procedures for the learners and the instructors. Deliver or distribute the materials.

Evaluate - Conduct a summative evaluation of the developed materials and provide for opportunities for feedback from the users. Make revisions as necessary.

Project Management

  • Lead learning initiatives by providing strong project management techniques (project plan, schedule, decision gates, communication plan, etc.).
  • Interface with the business unit leaders to ensure an integrated learning and education strategy. This may include skill builders to address noted skill gaps, new sales initiative training and communication.
  • Maximize and leverage resources.
  • Engage with business unit leaders and maintain an open communication channel to ensure training needs are understood and met.

Colleague and Team Development

  • Execute colleague and team development activities (i.e., assessments, development, coaching, mentoring, etc.).
  • Develop and execute the career management activities that will encourage colleagues to intentionally and proactively manage their own careers.
  • Develop and execute the change management activities that will enable the organization and colleagues to be change resilient and ready.

Performance Management

  • Execute the activities and support that will effectively and fairly guide decision making and is the quality foundation for pay increases, promotions, transfers, development, assignments and/or reductions in force.

Career Management

  • Execute the career management activities that will encourage colleagues to intentionally and proactively manage their own careers.

Change Management

  • Execute the change management activities that will enable the organization and colleagues to be change resilient and ready.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university and 5 years related work experience OR 6 years work specific experience
  • 5 years of experience in learning, organizational development, talent management or other relevant experience
  • 3 years of experience utilizing Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Work Hours

8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
