Provide professional Labour Relations programs and services to management and staff within multi-size unionized plant environments, working closely with Operations staff and Union representative in grievance resolution, contract interpretation and administration, collective bargaining, hourly/salaried recruitment and selection, hourly employee disability management, hourly learning and development and hourly job classifications. Organize and facilitate labour management meetings. Provide advice and assistance for third stage grievances, workplace investigations and legal advice as required. Actively participate providing counsel and guidance in matters related to arbitration, mediation, collective agreements, grievances and settlements. Provide recruitment and selection services. Direct hourly disability management of claims. Direct the administration of health and benefits for hourly personnel and provide interpretation and benefit coverage. Ensure consistant application and adherence to LR programs, processes and operational requirements. Hire, coach and counsel staff work performance. Develop, implement and audit hourly training base. Administer hourly recognition/reward programs.
Knowledge: Extensive labour relations and human resources experience, particularly in grievance resolution and collective bargaining agreement interpretation. Solid knowledge of provincial and federal legislation. Strong track record in working collaboratively with Plant Management and Union personnel and serving as a labour relations contact. Excellent negotiation skills to resolve problems. Proficient in coordinating with local management collective bargaining strategy and plans including strike plans. Proven success as a problem solver who prioritizes and meets deadlines and works effectively in a fast pace reesults - driven unionized work environment. Experience in working in a multi-site manufacturing plant environment.
Strong ability to coach and/or counsel others. Good persuasive skills. Interest/ability to work within HR/LR environment. Self starter, works independently, excellent verbal and communication skills.
Sound knowledge base and understanding of contemporary labour relations and human resource including recruitment/selection, employment branding, labour/employee relations, job evaluations training and development. Harassment/respectful workplace practises with investigation skills. Basic payroll.
Education: Community College / Degree with 6-10 years experience.
Judgement: Provide counsel and advice on disciplinary matters, terminations, work performance and productivity. Workplace issues relating to privacy, hunan rights, diversity, accommodations and recruitment. Resolve a variety of matters relating to labour relations. Determine hourly and salaried recruitment strategies. Resolv employee issues, coach and counsel administrative staff. Provide advice and guidance on drug and alcohol issues, testing, action plans and EAP.
Recommend and implement resolutions of grievances. Coach and counsel supervisors on employee matters, work performance issues, attendance management issues, and discipline.
Accountability: Reviewed annually, reviewed when goals are achieved.
