Who We Are Looking For:

The Human Resources (HR) Talent Partner will play a vital role in providing support in a Business Partner model focused on selecting, developing, and organizing talent in alignment with the goals of our Operations and Management (O&M) Business Unit, and in support of broader company initiatives. A Generalist approach towards areas such as employee relations and on-boarding is expected, and in addition, the successful candidate will need to have the ability to strategically understand the business objectives of the O&M group and help drive necessary people initiatives in order to meet these goals.

What Will You Be Doing at Woodard & Curran?

This position is responsible for establishing strong partnerships within the O&M group, and identifying and delivering talent-related guidance, processes, and tools in support of employee and business needs. The HR Partner serves as a consultant to management on human resources-related issues. The successful candidate will act as an employee champion and change agent while assessing and anticipating HR-related needs. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, this position seeks to deliver integrated solutions to support the business objectives of the organization. The HR Business Partner maintains an effective level of understanding about the business unit’s objectives, its financial position, and its competition.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the greater HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Partners with O&M Business Unit leaders and managers to drive company-wide talent initiatives, processes and tools into the SBU.
  • Partners with O&M leadership to pursue and coordinate with key stakeholders on new contracts and projects as well as assist in onboarding new staff into Woodard & Curran as projects launch.
  • Connects and consults with line management, providing HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with key HR partners and utilizes HRIS throughout the course of annual HR activities, communications and deliverables.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years in HR, preferably in Business Partner roles.
  • Experience working with state and local employment laws preferred.
  • Merger and Acquisition and union relations experience a plus.
  • PHR or SPHR preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% of time.
