SUMMARY:
The Human Resources Associate will serve as a generalist to support all aspects of human resources for The Carter Center programs and departments. The HR Associate will primarily support the Peace Programs, Finance, and Overseas Operations area, and will be the first point of contact to staff for hiring, onboarding, compensation, learning & professional development and performance management. The HR Associate will directly support approximately 230 staff at the Atlanta headquarters offices, which are joined with more than 2,500 staff in field offices.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Associate advises on policies and procedures, interprets and counsels managers and staff on employee relations matters ensuring practices that foster an equitable and inclusive work environment. Coordinates and contributes to employee engagements, learning and development programs, and serves as a liaison with various Emory departments, including, equity & inclusion, employee assistance, compensation & benefits, payroll, and learning & organizational development.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of generalist HR experience and a PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations is required.
This role requires the ability to display sensitivity, tact and responsiveness in various situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
HR experience in a global non-profit is a plus.
Demonstrated success in a fast paced, action-oriented organization and interfacing with staff from diverse backgrounds is essential.
The HR Associate must have the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization and have excellent communication skills.
Outstanding organization skills and meticulous attention to detail is necessary, as well as the ability to multi-task effectively.
High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook, familiarity with human resources database applications, preferably PeopleSoft, Kronos and ICIMS software knowledge is helpful.

Processes required payroll paperwork.
May assist in preparing and monitoring departmental budgets.
May supervise support staff.
Assists in human resources related education/training efforts within the department.
Utilizes database management, word processing, spreadsheet and/or other computer applications.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field.
Three years of experience in human resources administration or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
