Technical, hands-on engineer responsible for High-Speed IO and Physical Layer Validation and Characterization on AMD Enterprise products.

This individual will be primarily responsible for interfacing with Silicon Design, Firmware, and Platform design groups, Software and Validation teams to define/develop Validation Infrastructure, to develop and execute test plans for Enterprise products from bring-up to validation, to ramp for Initial IP, and to support customers in ramping into full production.


The candidate must have a BS or MSEE degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant working experience in new product development from a silicon design, platform design and/or product engineering discipline. The candidate must also have a strong understanding of the general silicon engineering process, from concept to tape-out and production, as well as experience in cross-organization collaboration. A successful candidate must have exceptional verbal, as well as written, communication skills.


  • Develop pre-silicon readiness and post-silicon plan to validate physical layer design (covering both functional operation and electrical characterization)
  • Identify and root cause failures found in SoC Validation and Characterization
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to creatively improve post-silicon validation test strategy, methodology and processes
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to develop HW/SW tools to improve SoC validation coverage and debug timeline


  • BS or MS degree in CE, EE, or Computer Science with at least 8 years of relevant experience
  • Excellent understanding of high-speed IO and physical layer design
  • Strong understanding of modern Micro-Processor architecture (x86, ARM) and modern platform architecture
  • Excellent debugging skills at SoC and system level
  • Proficient in using lab equipment (Oscilloscope, BERT, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer) to validate, characterize, and debug High-speed IO buses
  • Strong knowledge of modern OS kernels (MS, Linux) and programming/scripting languages (C/C++, Python, Perl, ...)
  • Familiarity with pre-silicon environments (Verification, Emulation, Virtual Bring-Up) is a plus
  • Must be a self-starting team player with excellent communication skills who can work with minimal guidance
  • Must be organized and willing to take on multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must be passionate and driven to learn new technology and take on new challenges
