Position Description:

Position Summary: The HRIS Developer is a developer position within the HRIS structure.  The primary focus of this position is the development of new solutions and the enhancement of existing solutions.  The HRIS environment includes applications, integrations, software and data administration and management.  

HRIS Developer will be primarily involved with development of web development, application development, complex reports, as well as assisting other subject matter experts with ensuring data integrity, testing of system changes, analyzing data flows for process improvement opportunities. 

As an HRIS team member, maintaining standards, participating fully in change management policies, and contributing to the electronic knowledge base and technical library are expected.  Developers will be involved with major initiatives and projects as needed.  Duties involve independent judgment and discretion on issues that may be sensitive or confidential in nature.  

1. Production Support <5% of time)

  • Provide direction to tier-three support for HRIS through recommendation of solutions or alternate methods to meet resolution requirements.

2. Development/Process Improvement/Projects (>70% of time)

  • Recommend and develop, deploy, and warranty support process/customer service improvements, innovative solutions, and enhancement. Serve as a key liaison with third parties and other stakeholders (e.g. payroll).

3. Reports/Queries (5% of time)

  • Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing customer needs. Help maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.

4. Training (10% of time)

  • Ensure proper documentation, design specs, and knowledge transfer to HRIS specialists and business analysts is completed.  Training may be required to learn various aspects of HRIS as new policies and external related drivers (e.g. compliance rules and laws) change the way HRIS and related departments conduct business.

5. Individual Development (10% of time)

  • Maintain awareness of current trends in HRIS with a focus on product and service development, delivery and support, and applying key technologies. Examine trends in information systems training, materials and techniques. Through classes, reading, CBTs or other mechanisms, continuously increase both HR knowledge and HRIS application/tools knowledge. Participate in user group meetings/conferences.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  •  Collaborates with the HRIS team for integrations, upgrades, modifications, enhancements, etc., and participating in issue tracking and resolution for all HR and Payrollsystems.
  • Develop/enhance custom development, application interfaces, and application based portal and platform configurations through the use of the application tools, SQL, and any other means in use by the HRIS team.

  • Ensures quality, timeliness and proper use of HR information retrieved from systems and developing enhancements for HRIS systems

  • Ensuring security of HR and Payroll information through established security protocol

  • Researches new techniques in the development of systems and maintains knowledge of current trends and strategies in technology fields relating to HRIS.

  • Assist as needed for medium to large size projects where development or enhancements are required.

  • Other projects or project related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience:

  •  Minimum 8+ years’ experience in a combination of the following areas: application and system development and integration, data modeling/querying/analysis, database management and design, and technical documentation.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of the organization.

  • Strong customer orientation, sense of urgency in getting things done, and ability to oversee and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Strong critical thinking with the ability to review numbers, trends, and data and come to new conclusions based on the findings

  • Ability to handle confidential material and details in getting things done, and ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Highly focused attention to detail; vigilant in data analysis to arrive at correct conclusions, and results oriented.

  • Ability to remain flexible and multi-task while adapting to an ever-changing HRIS environment.

  • Familiar with Change Management, SDLC

  • Knowledge of IT systems and infrastructure

  • Knowledge of project management techniques and methodologies

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%

  • This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test.
