General purpose
Essential duties and responsibilities:

The purpose of this Strategy and Projects position within WEX’s Global Human Resources line of business is to serve in a flexible capacity to independently own and drive a portfolio of small to large size projects, aid in the articulation of the global function’s priorities, complete necessary analysis in support of those priorities, and execute program management and reporting across the wide suite of initiatives to be undertaken within the Global HR line of business in the coming years. This role will have a privileged position in the Human Resources line of business, working directly with leadership in tracking progress and executing strategic projects across the entirety of the function.

This position is an independent contributor with no direct reports, though temporary or loaned support may exist in non-permanent roles. This position will work closely with all levels of the line of business, in particular the CHRO and leadership team, as well as play as needed across the entire ELT and other key partners outside of HR (e.g. Corporate Strategy, M&A, etc). Travel is expected ~10-20% of the time.

Performance will be measured upon predefined accomplishment of milestones, projects, or metrics that relate to this role’s portfolio.

While this role is meant to adapt and flex to the needs of the organization, the duties and responsibilities of this role will include the following:

  1. 1. Strategy and operational improvement project delivery
    1. a. Leadership of a portfolio of diverse projects that have material impact on the direction or the operational efficiency of the line of business. Projects may range from 1 week to 3 months and will require working through a diverse set of opportunities and leaders throughout the organization
    2. b. Owning project program governance, which includes low effort but high impact processes for the organization to follow, including project charters and monthly scorecard reporting. Position will be responsible for flagging off track initiatives and may provide burst capacity on occasion
    3. c. Partner with Global communications team to design complex presentations, communications and media requests

  1. 2. Preparation ofGlobal HR Priorities
    1. a. Work with HR leadership to translate Wex business strategy into discrete HR initiatives to support effective strategy execution.
    2. b. Lead Global HR analysis and partner with leadership team to ensure consistent opportunity sizing and priorities
    3. c. Lead preparation of:
    4. i. CEO sessions

ii. Board sessions

iii. CHRO 1:1 Updates with CEO including monthly reporting roll-up

  1. 3. Design and development of core programs and/or processes for Global HR with direct connection to ELT and scalable for the organization
    1. a. Work with the CHRO to design world class processes to collect, identify and manage global talent and succession planning to be delivered at the board level, ELT and scalable for the entire organization
    2. b. Partner to develop, design and deliver Global HR and talent solutions
    3. c. Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year institution
  • 8+ years experience in program/project management, strategy, operational improvement, and/or technology roles
  • Strong communication and presentation skills both oral and written
  • Demonstrated financial acumen, including proficiency in Excel, navigating large data sets, and distilling complex data into actionable recommendations
  • Highly flexible skill set, with notable excellence in personal effectiveness, credibility, problem solving, and analysis
  • Ability to work strategically and collaboratively across departments

Preferred qualifications

  • Program/Project Management experience; PMP Certification preferred
  • Management consulting experience
  • Training development experience
