As a HR manager, you will be an active contributor and collaborator to the work of the HR team by providing guidance, expertise and information to ensure a high touch experience for new and existing employees. You will be proactive in collecting, analyzing and synthesizing key data related to engagement and retention, and also identify and execute process improvement opportunities. You will serve as a collaborator and connector between the other disciplines within the HR department (employee relations, recruitment and training and development) to align work, processes and priorities effectively communicating across the department. You will be proactive in cultivating strong relationships at various levels both internally and externally and must be able to think critically while working in a fast-paced environment. You will maintain an understanding of and ensure policies and practices are in compliance with all federal and state laws and regulatory practices as well as internal policies.

As a Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for:

Employee Engagement (30%)

  • Partner with the HR team and hiring managers to onboard new staff and ensure they are successfully integrated into their team and into the culture. Ensure hiring managers are equipped with an understanding of and successfully utilize the necessary tools and resources to provide all new employees a welcoming and well-organized experience.
  • Manage checking in with newly hired staff across the organization. Schedule and conduct HR check in meetings and provide information and guidance on key HR policies and practices and advise new employees of resources and contacts within the HR department. Provide guidance on more complex questions and situations referring selected situations to the VP, Human Resources. Identify trends of successes and opportunities for improvement or new resources. Advise new employees of the process to enroll in benefits and other responsibilities for new staff.
  • Ensure employees are aware of critical processes and responsibilities surrounding leaves of absences.
  • Follow up on ADA and Flexible Work Arrangement requests working across the department and between other departments on these requests, needed information, and decisions.
  • Manage off boarding process for current staff. Conduct exit interviews with all staff and prepares necessary exit materials. Ensures supervisor has checklist to complete and answer necessary questions regarding offboarding. Compiles and synthesizes exit interview feedback and data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Generates standard reports and responds to ad hoc requests. Creates a system for exit interview data and trends being routinely shared among HR team, functional leads and department heads.
  • Handle activities related to involuntary terminations.

HR Operations (70%):

  • Manage the employee relations repository including entering cases into the log, monitoring for consistent process, and identifying trends. Prepares documentation when needed. Analyzes and synthesizes data and creates reports and presentations for HR leadership and department leadership. Handles routine employee relations issues.
  • Pro-actively recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to drive continual improvement in efficiency of department and services delivered. Create and draft operational procedures and organizes distribution and retention.
  • Troubleshoot process issues, devises effective solutions, and facilitates process improvement with performance management, annual merit increases, forecasting, etc.
  • Gather and analyze data with useful metrics that enables effective management of human resources activities.
  • Identify people insights and trends and makes recommendations to improve retention and engagement.
  • Manage the Society's employee handbook. Responsible for annual handbook updates to include changes in regulations and internal policies and procedures, ensuring that policies meet federal and state regulatory compliance. Ensure comprehensive review including HR staff and legal compliance.
  • Support the HR work surrounding employee engagement surveys
  • Support continuous improvement activities. Assess current processes, holds focus groups, performs data analysis, creates surveys and analyze results.
  • Serve as content advisor for annual updates for compliance training, ensures training meets compliance requirements.
  • Collect and prepares data for HRBP meetings and upon request.
  • Manage ad hoc projects and data collection (i.e. brand valuation, internal audit, I9 audit, etc.)
  • Support recruiting during high volume periods or for key position recruitment.

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in Human Resources, experience as an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner preferred
  • Strong competencies in customer focus, change and innovation, and process improvement

  • Strong project and time management skills

Technical Skills:

  • HRIS experience
  • Moderate to advanced proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws and their impact to staff and the organization
