Position Summary: 

Incumbent plays a key role in directly supporting and implementing Human Resources strategies, programs, processes and policies among client departments.  Assists in the performance of specialized studies, analysis, and projects as assigned.



Essential Job Functions:



Provides employee and labor relations support including policy interpretation, dispute and conflict resolution, and mentoring to management.  Conducts accurate, effective, and legally defensible investigations into employee issues.  Develops effective coaching and disciplinary documentation.  Provides effective representation of issues in the support of grievance handling and resolution. Maintains current understanding of various collective bargaining agreements and system/medical center policy, ensuring appropriate and legal resolutions.



Provides general HR support to client departments in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Labor and Employee Relations, Benefits and Disability, and Training, including but not limited to reviewing and developing accurate job descriptions, delivering effective training and in-services, providing effective assistance in the bargaining process, and partnering with management on recruitment plans.



Serves as a trusted consultant/advisor to client departments as assigned.  Develops and implements human resource solutions by collecting and analyzing information and recommending courses of actions. Identifies effective opportunities for departmental change initiatives and assists with implementation as needed.  Assists in helping to build and sustain a work environment with high levels of employee engagement and satisfaction.


Required Qualifications:


5+ years generalist HR experience with a focus in consulting/partnering on HR issues with managers and employees.

Ability to partner with leaders to help them accomplish business unit objectives balancing both internal practices and policies and the need to think out of the box for creative, relevant HR solutions.

Ability to work well independently and in a team environment

Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent education and experience

Demonstrated ability to maintain discretion with sensitive and confidential information

Demonstrated knowledge of HR law

Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word

Demonstrated professionalism with a commitment to provide exceptional customer service

Demonstrated skill in partnering with management and employees in areas of conflict resolution, employee relations, change management, and performance management

Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation communication skills

Proven success in building rapport, working independently and working with diverse employee groups

Strong time management skills in a fast paced, high volume, ever changing environment


Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field

Current PHR or SPHR Certification

Demonstrated experience with HRIS and other systems, preferably PeopleSoft HCM, TAM and ePerformance

Experience in a unionized environment

Experience working in a healthcare, union, and/or public sector environment
