Johnson Lambert is searching for a Human Resources Director to lead our HR strategy. This is a tremendous opportunity to lead our people strategies and serve as a valued member of the executive leadership team. Our Human Resources operation encompasses Talent Acquisition and Retention, Performance & Development, Compliance and Culture & Diversity. The HR Director will provide leadership in developing, executing, and advancing all aspects of the firm’s people strategy, in support of the overall strategic goals of the firm. The HR Director will supervise a talented team, and will report to the Chief Growth and Development Officer.
As our HR Director, you will have responsibility for:
- Supporting our Executive Committee in pursuing the firm’s Strategic Plan
- Continuously seek to improve the design of our HR policies, practices and procedures to support both the growth of our firm and our people
- Work collaboratively with our Partners, Executive Committee, Chief Growth and Development Officer and other members of the leadership team. The HR Director will serve a critical role in managing the business from a strategic and operational perspective
- Serve as a champion in developing a culture focused on our vision, mission, core values
- Design, drive, and deliver strategies that maximize: talent acquisition; talent development; performance management; retention; learning strategies; organizational design; compensation practices; benefit programs; compliance; diversity and inclusion
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and development to the HR team and firm employees
- Participate in effective external and internal communications related to firm HR strategies, initiatives, employment branding, associate engagement, and retention
- Maintain external relationships aimed at providing competitive intelligence for use in developing and considering our people initiatives
- Assist in monitoring and interpreting trends and metrics around employee engagement, attrition, and turnover, and establish recommendations for improvement and enhancements based on data analysis
- Develop effective and competitive compensation programs to attract and retain employees with skills needed to execute the company’s growth strategy
- Protect the interests of the company with regard to all local, state, and federal legal employment obligations
- Leverage technology to drive change, simplify processes, lower operating costs, and improve operational efficiencies
- Prepare and manage the annual HR budget
- Professional demeanor at all times, including the ability to remain thoughtful and focused under pressure
What you’ll need for success:
- Previous experience as a member of an executive leadership team, providing HR strategic and operational direction, within a multi-location/workforce organization
- Ability to effectively communicate a vision for HR and work with a variety of firm leadership to build consensus around HR strategy and tactics
- Ability to adapt quickly, build relationships, engage and motivate all members of the firm
- Exceptional written and oral communications skills with strong C-suite presence and presentation skills
- Ability to bring immediate credibility to the HR function through his/her professional qualifications and leadership skills as well as project the highest level of integrity
- PHR or SPHR certification is desirable
- Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
- Experience with cultural integration/alignment of a remote workforce, would be a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required, MBA or Advanced Degree preferred
- Ability to travel as appropriate to implement strategic HR initiatives (approximately 10% travel, post Covid-19 travel restrictions)
- Minimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in leading the human resources function in a professional services or growth oriented organization (CPA, legal, higher education or consulting firm)

The preferred location for this position is in our Raleigh, NC office. However, other home office locations would be considered. Compensation will be commensurate with experience of the candidate.
