HR Compliance Consultant
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Provides functional human resource program management support to managers and employees with regard to employee relations, management and employee training, and other human resources functions; guides less experienced generalists or analysts when necessary; assists management with the coordination of day-to-day HR activities
Advises officers, managers, supervisors, and employees regarding human resources policies, procedures, and practices; maintains compliance with federal employment laws and regulations; identifies local state legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions, and implements changes as necessary; and ensures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance and are communicated effectively
Provides employee relations support, guidance and counseling to employees and management resulting in effective resolution of issues; conducts internal investigations regarding employee grievances and complaints, and consults with or escalates to the corporate legal department as required; partners with management regarding employee performance issues, creation of performance improvement plans and corrective actions
Collaborates with the Internal Audit department by maintaining and monitoring documentation of personal conduct policy violations and reporting to the Internal Audit department as requested
Assists with the dissemination of regulatory changes to the employee handbook and HR Business Partner procedure manual to the HR Business Partner team; facilitates the development of processes and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, including participation in business process improvement efforts and compliance improvement initiatives; reports on the status of process changes and escalates issues as appropriate
Manages bulletin boards for all locations to ensure all federal and state required postings are posted and current by partnering with Health Services and the Legal department
Responsible for running and monitoring the reporting of incomplete employee handbook acknowledgement forms; responsible for running and monitoring the reporting of open SAP grievance and corrective action entries made by the HR Business Partner team
Collaborates with HR Business Partners regarding alignment of business processes with enterprise talent management strategy and Aflac business plan; assists with the collection and analysis of workforce data for talent management trends, effectiveness, efficiency, and reporting requirements
Maintains a highly visible presence to employees and maintains an open, sincere disposition for employee concerns and suggestions; promotes employee recognition programs to build positive morale ad reduce turnover
Performs other related duties as required
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business administration/management, or a related field, and 6 years of job related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PHR Designation is preferred
Job Knowledge & Skills
Broad knowledge of the principles, practices, concepts, and federal and state laws and regulations of human resources such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC , ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ADA, IRS code 125/129, etc., and all applicable reporting requirements
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication, and team facilitation skills to effectively interact with senior management, and internal and external customers
