Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Provides change leadership that fosters awareness, understanding, engagement, and action in response to corporate and business change events; acts as a catalyst and motivator for implementing new programs and services, as well as reprioritizing existing resources to support strategic initiatives

Executes client human capital plans to enable business strategy and objectives penetration; coordinates various HR resources such as Employee Relations, Corporate Learning and Development, Talent Management, Sourcing, Organization Effectiveness, Compensation, and Benefits to diagnose, develop, and deliver timely and relevant solutions to the client; offers thought and policy leadership on human capital issues to clients

Builds and maintains strong working relationships between assigned business units and human resources; serves as primary contact for Human Resources functions, including: Employment Services, Training and Development, and Employee Relations; and coordinates with other Human Resources areas, such as Compensation, Benefits and HRIS; identifies and facilitates Human Resources capabilities and resources to provide human capital solutions for business units

Provides leadership, advice, and know-how to business units for talent management i.e., the human capital processes, policies, and programs that contribute to a skilled, diverse, and high-performing workforce, along with managerial capabilities for workforce engagement and motivation; engages the appropriate subject matter experts from the Human Resources division in order to effectively serve the customer

Manages the delivery of timely, relevant, and efficient HR operational services in partnership with other HR organizations and resources; works and communicates effectively across HR and client organizations as initiatives or circumstances require; influences evolution of organizational culture; identifies and provides solutions to improve processes within multiple functional areas

Leads the compliance of all pertinent HR-related laws and regulations; interprets policies that are broadly defined to evaluate and resolve complex high-level issues; assists senior leadership in creating and implementing company-wide policies and programs

Provides HR leadership on significant business events including reorganizations, business transformation, aggressive growth initiatives, business model evolution, integration undertakings, etc.

Reviews and evaluates work of staff members and performs all other related supervisory and administrative functions, to include budget preparation; confers with executives, department heads, and staff to formulate policies and develop departmental objectives and resource requirements

Performs other related duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree and 5 – 6 years of professional job-related experience and 3 years human resources management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

4 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial capacity is required

SPHR certification is preferred

Job Knowledge & Skills

Excellent communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with Aflac’s senior management and internal and external business contacts; ability to exhibit and maintain professionalism in accordance with corporate standards

Knowledge of federal and state labor laws, and DOL and EEOC guidelines; human resource generalist and management skills

Knowledge of best practice methods and processes for talent management

Strong knowledge of overall HR products and services to deliver solutions to clients; a proven ability to influence and establish and maintain effective relationships and gain reputation as trusted advisor and business partner

Strong problem solving skills; excellent decision making/analysis skills; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; proven ability to objectively coach senior leadership and management through routine and complex employee relations matters

Demonstrated organizational design and change management expertise required

Skilled in analyzing an organization, its structure, strengths and opportunities and developing solutions to address them
