NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem provides a wide range of medical, surgical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and family support services. The hospital is a 286 bed acute care facility and a designated Level 1 Trauma Center, with a full spectrum of specialty services, including a burnunit, an adult intensive care unit, a neonatal intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, and a cardiac care unit.
The Hospitalist at Harlem Hospital Center have primary responsibility for the care and management of all patients on the General Medicine floors in the Department of Medicine with consultation provided by specialists. The Hospitalists also rotate responsibility for supervising residents on the Medicine Consultation Service.
The Hospitalist reports to the Chief Hospitalist and to the Director of Medicine. After completing a focused professional practice evaluation within the second quarter of employment, the Chief and Director evaluate the Hospitalist on a semi-annual basis with regard to productivity, quality of care, participation in performance improvement activities, compliance with clinical guidelines and algorithms, achievement of defined clinical goals, as well as other characteristics that may be modified from time to time as part of the department's ongoing professional practice evaluation.
This is a full time position. The Hospitalist spends 100% of his or her time in clinical activities (including supervision of residents). Hospitalist work 40 hrs a week on weekdays. Weekend calls may be required from time to time.
Hospitalist must have completed residency training in Internal Medicine.
- Eligible for certification by American Board of Internal Medicine.
- Completion of an accredited Geriatric fellowship training program
- Certified by the Board of Internal Medicine.
- License to practice medicine in NYS
- Prior Hospitalist experience.
