Working with the Home Health and Hospice interdisciplinary teams and collaborating with the attending physicians, the Medical Director oversees the medical component of the Home Health and Hospice plans of care for each patient. The position is administratively accountable to MultiCare Home Health, Hospice and Palliative Care and reports directly to the Home Health, Hospice & Palliative Care Director. The Medical Director has a standardized core set of qualifications, duty obligations and responsibilities. This licensed physician is knowledgeable about the psychosocial and medical aspects of hospice care, reviews, coordinates, and is responsible for the management of clinical and medical care for all patients in the program. The Medical Director participates in the quality management and educational programs for the staff and patients as well as in the overall strategic planning and development of Home Health and Hospice services, yet has no direct line of authority over HomeHealth and Hospice employees except for providing oversight to the Associate Medical Director(s). This position interfaces with appropriate System personnel at varying levels in support of and advocacy for the Home Health and Hospice programs.

• Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine or American Board of Medical Specialties and be actively participating in the process to obtain certification in Hospice and Palliative Care medicine via an ABMS approved specialty; OR completed certificate program in Palliative care; OR completed relevant clinical experience giving comparable qualifications
• Licensed in the state of WA by the time of employment
• DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
