Software Developer Job Summary:

3M Grouper Applications Team in Meriden, CT is seeking a highly motivated Junior level Software Engineer to join our team and help us develop software products used internationally to ensure accurate reimbursement of health care claims and improve the quality of health care. Our cross-functional agile teams develop a mix of AWS cloud-based and on-premises applications - interest and versatility in both areas is a must. If you have Java experience, an urge to automate, improve processes and are driven to deliver quality software to customers that can improve patients' lives, we'd love to talk with you. We are looking for engineers with solid experience as a Java Full-Stack Developer, a Software Architect, a Software Engineer, Software Developer, and/or a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. Primary Responsibilities (Software Engineer) include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participate in and/or lead technical design sessions to formulate technical designs that minimize maintenance, maximize code reuse and minimize testing time
  • Develop code according to business and technical needs, create test data, perform unit/integration tests and collaborate with team to ensure functionality meets client expectations
  • Performance and stress testing of assigned functionality to ensure client expectations are met for response times
  • Support the identification, design and development of new automation to increase quality and team efficiencies
  • Participate in retrospective reviews to identify process improvement ideas and implement
  • Participate in and/or lead client product/feature demonstrations
  • Identify risks, risk management in support of release goals
  • Address/resolve issues identified by client

Basic Qualifications (Software Engineer):

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university OR High School Diploma/GED or higher from an accredited institution and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in software engineering in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree education requirement
  • Minimum of two (2) years of object-oriented software development experience (can include course work) in a private, public, government or military environment

Preferred Qualifications (Software Engineer):

  • Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science or Information Systems discipline
  • Experience with Java software development
  • Experience with Web services and web application development (SOAP/REST, Javascript/Angular)
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting
  • Experience using git and/or Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Experience with Gradle, Ant, or Maven
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Familiar with SQL and relational database design
  • Knowledge of Agile methodology and experienceworking with distributed team members
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to take individual initiative and responsibility for assignments
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly to new requests and changing priorities
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new tools and technology
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas, concepts and information on both user and technical level
  • Understanding of medical grouping, editing and coding within the Healthcare industry
