SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Manager, EHS directs the development, implementation and maintenance of comprehensive EHS management systems for the facility. The position provides leadership, mentoring and technical expertise necessary to create site capability to achieve corporate goals for EHS performance and ensure compliance with all applicable EHS policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides leadership, guidance and mentoring to the site necessary to create a proactive culture of risk management and capability to identify and manage EHS risks to prevent incidents;
  • Develops, implements and manages systems and programs to ensure site is in compliance with applicable EHS regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures;
  • Provides training and mentoring to site supervisors, managers and management personnel to lead proactive safety efforts in their area of responsibility;
  • Provide training, mentoring and direct assistance to site management personnel to build site capability to thoroughly analyze incidents for root causes and contributing factors, also providing quality assurance and oversight to draft incident and root cause analysis reports prior to submission to corporate management;
  • Be the technical expert and have understanding of all relevant EHS issues as necessary;
  • Be the technical expert and provide compliance specifications/recommendations to Engineering & Maintenance Resources on the following areas, including, but not limited to:

Safety

  • Ensures accurate and timely EHS recordkeeping and document management including the submission of periodic reports to regulatory agencies;
  • Prepare, maintain, and as appropriate, submit all records and reports required by the Company and regulatory agencies including the OSHA 300 log and injury records;
  • Lead and/or assist emergency planning, preparedness and response activities;
  • Leads the development, review, and implementation of site emergency programs (e.g., facilitate site level drills);
  • Interface with regulatory and public sector EHS authorities as appropriate;
  • Reviews actual and proposed uses of chemicals for EHS implications, including regulatory applicability and worker safety, ensures compliance with their use and manages Safety Data Sheet (SDS) availability for those chemicals;
  • Manages the facility Process Safety Management (PSM) program for ammonia refrigeration as appropriate;
  • Participate in EHS audits, Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and other elements of the PSM program integral to site EHS performance;
  • Oversee site industrial hygiene programs and activities necessary to ensure a safe workplace and minimize worker exposure;
  • Prioritize major hazards and risks across the site, and ensure actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks;
  • Lead, coordinate, and participate in EHS performance improvement initiatives;
  • Lead, support, and guide facility EHS committees;
  • Participate in annual budget development process with respective facility managers and corporate managers;
  • Partner with corporate EHS leads to develop and implement corporate EHS policies, programs and procedures
  • Develop programs to meet or exceed corporate EHS audit program requirements, ensure audit findings are resolved and closed in line with audit or recommendations.
  • Lead the implementation and maintenance of EHS management systems in line with Pinnacle Foods Group LLC policies and standards.
  • Track, report, and analyze EHS performance and implement strategies to exceed established targets;
  • Leads the development, review, and revision of EHS training programs; Facilitate train-the-trainer sessions; Direct computer-based training activities; Train associates as appropriate on requirements and procedures for EHS compliance;
  • Conduct regular reviews with site leadership team to assess site progress towards EHS performance objectives and targets, and develop action plans to meet and exceed targets;
  • Lead the coordination and implementation of site EHS projects;
  • Manage site security programs and systems;
  • Work with Site Engineering & Maintenance Resources to resolve issues identified during Loss Prevention/Risk Managementinspections

  • Leadership skills necessary to drive evolution of site safety culture to be proactive towards risk identification and management, capable of zero incidents
  • The role must be able to handle crisis situations professionally. It may involve working in confined spaces and/or high places
