Position SummaryTo manage and provide technical support for the metallurgical, Plating and Heat Treating operations within the FFI facility.
To have managerial oversight ofpersonnel in thesedepartments.Coordinate integration of tooling, machinery and equipment into manufacturing process to include design and installation of equipment and plant systems.
Position Responsibilitiesinclude but are not limited to
:•Provide technical analysis to include costing, process improvement, product improvement, cost reduction, scrap reduction, movement reduction, and cost reduction.•Assist in trials and DOEs (Design of Experiment) of alternate processing methods to test feasibility of new applications of system components, and recommend implementation of improved procedures.•Recommend methods for improving labor efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, new process evaluation, new rawmaterial evaluation, outside processes and purchase of equipment.•Assist in analysis of machinery and machinery improvements.•Analyze feasibility of new equipment or modification of existing equipment considering costs, available space, time limitations, capacity planning, and other technical and economic factors and recommend changes.•Analyze feasibility of physical plant modifications to support existing or future manufacturing to include cost, environmental, and safety impacts of proposed changes and recommend changes.•Provide technical information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations, which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.•Develop and write equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis, and proposal for integrating machinery and equipment such as cold headers, thread rollers, Heat Treat Furnaces, Electroplating Lines, Waste Water Treatment and plant support equipment.
•Participate in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to stay apprised of developments in field.•Support Engineering and coordinate manufacturing or building of prototype product or systems and perform machine evaluations and run off.2•Confer with engineering personnel and prepare design proposals and modifications as required to improve operations and quality of product.•Research and analyze data, such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine applicability and impacts on process and plant (inconjunction with Quality, Engineering, and Product Engineering).•Assist in developing Preventative Maintenance programs for implementation through MP2 on all new equipment in the facility, derived from manufacturer’s recommendations and any lessons learned from similar equipment.•Inspect and train as required Operations Plant and Distribution Center personnel and equipment to ensure compliance with Local, State and Federal requirements for Safety and Environmental Standards.•Seek means to reduce the environmental impact of the plant in energy use, landfill use and waste water consumption and content.•Train or develop training plan as required for tool & die makers, maintenance personnel, electricians and fabricators to ensure they have the necessary technical skills to support plant operations.•Develop equipment portion of annual capital plan to include development of requirements, solicitation of bids, evaluation and recommendation of suppliers, and execution of purchase contracts through installation for approved equipment and projects.•Assist engineering and materials through evaluation of new tool designs and new fluids as required.•Provide senior management the technical services personnel to develop goals, objectives and to do performance and disciplinary counseling as required.•Act as a member of the Plant Health & Safety Committee.•Prepare, submit, and monitor the licensed operations and permits to include Air and Water Permits for the plant.•Assist Plant Manager in responding to requests for technicalinformation, FPS data requests, ITAR registration and compliance, TS16949 registration and compliance, ISO14001 registration and compliance, and other technical specifications required by our customer base.•Perform other duties as requested.
Education/ExperienceRequired:•Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical engineering or similar field such as Mineral science, Engineering science or Chemical engineering. •At least 5 years of metallurgical experience in a Manufacturing environment.•Possesses excellent written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills•Lean Manufacturing or related training and experience•Proficient Microsoft Office skillsPreferred:•Master’s degree with MEng or a BEng/BSc together with an MSc.•Priorexperience operating under CQI-9, CQI-10 and CQI-11 preferred•At least 10 years of metallurgical experience in a Manufacturing environment.Competencies•Business Acumen: Knowledge of general business practices as well as knowledge of the organizations functioning: An understanding of organizational culture and the ability to function effectively within its social structure. •Collaboration: Understanding the importance of relationships to enabling effective teamwork.
