Healthcare Data Analyst

Under the Direction of the Director of Public Health and Medical Officer, the Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for the profitable operation and streamlining the processes to keep patients records for Tribal Citizens and Tribal community members, in addition to team members enterprise-wide. The Healthcare Data Analyst gathers and analyzes data from multiple sources to assist in insurance processing, clinical operations, and/or patient behavior to extract trends and business insights. The candidate selected for this role is analytical, resourceful, with eloquent communication skills with the ability to tell a story behind raw data to non-technical audiences.

1. Builds and understands models that capture a wide range of health care operations and systems by presenting information for easily accessible use.

2. Interprets, analyzes, and integrates data/results from disparate sources to develop processes and provide solutions. Evaluates and pre-processes raw information and delves into data to discover discrepancies, trends, and patterns to optimize efficiency and quality.

3. Creates and validates record-keeping processes for Tribal Citizens and community members, including Yaamava’ and San Manuel Band of Mission Indians (SMBMI) team members.

4. Collaborates with management and internal departments to implement and evaluate ways to increase healthcare quality, while reducing costs.

5. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics and/or related field required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience as a Healthcare Data Analyst and/or experience in data analysis and visualization methods.
• Understanding of healthcare procedures required.
• Equivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.
• Knowledge of Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) frameworks.
• Proficient in SQL and analysis tools (e.g. SAS).
• Knowledge of Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and data management systems.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Outstanding organizational and problem-solving aptitude.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

• At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
• A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
