The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Health Program Operations Specialist (Nurse).
This is a (.80 FTE) position with substantial responsibility for directing and implementing activities associated with a federally funded, multi-site randomized trial of a clinical communication intervention for patients with critical illness, their families and clinicians. This intervention will be implemented throughout the UW Medicine Healthcare System (e.g., UWMC, HMC, Valley Medical Center and Northwest Hospital) and across transitions in care (e.g., rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities and home care).
The successful candidate will possess advanced clinical and project management skills needed to address and enhance clinical intervention design and team oversight.
This position will be responsible for identifying and addressing implementation challenges for both the initial intervention and any subsequent modifications.
This position is with the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence/End-of-life Care Research Program whose mission is to improve care for patients with serious illness and their family members. This randomized trial is designed to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of an intervention to improve care for patients in critical care settings and through transitions in care through the use of a communication facilitator.
Responsibilities include: designing clinical intervention problems and hypotheses; developing and overseeing intervention protocols and implementation; training and supervising study assistants and data entry activities; acting as a liaison to enrollment sites and participants; implementing the intervention; overseeing data acquisition protocols and implementation; coordinating screening and recruitment of intervention participants (clinicians, patients, family members); managing payment disbursements to participants; creating written reports including subject communications, surveys, human subjects review materials, and reports to funding agencies; analyzing results; and authoring manuscripts. This position will be responsible for training study assistants and overseeing data acquisition activities.
