Health and Safety Manager to promote a positive health and safety culture, and ensure CTSM delivers on its safety-related contractual and legislative obligations. This is a long-term career opportunity in an exciting growing industry.
ResponsibilitiesReporting to the HSSEQ Director, the
Health and Safety Manager is responsible for the following activities:
- Support the HSSEQ Director in the development, implementation, and maintenance of CTSM's Safety Management Plan, Security Management Plan, Emergency Response Plan and associated procedures and tools in CTSM's HSSEQ Management System.
- Promote and enforce safe working practices, while ensuring current compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act legislation and obligations.
- Maintain health and safety risk registers and test the adequacy of the mitigation measures.
- Responding to internal safety accidents and security incidents, leading investigations, and recommending corrective actions.
- Participating in joint safety and security investigations with the Operator (TTC) where incidents have occurred along the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT) System.
- Develop and deliver training materials to promote awareness of the health and safety requirements throughout the Project team.
- Ensure that CTSM employees and sub-contractors are compliant with CTSM's health and safety requirements, through documentation review and evaluation, field inspections and audits.
- Plan and organize internal emergency response drills and participate and support drills lead by the Operator.
- Working with the Human Resources and Training Manager to support WSIB claims and implementation of the Accommodation, Fit for Duty and Workplace Violence and Harassment Policies and Programs.
- Lead the preparation of the monthly Safety and Security Performance Report.
- Participate in internal and external meetings, including meetings with the Client and Operator
- Co-ordinate and lead annual audit of the Safety Management Plan and Security Management Plan.
- Coaching and mentoring personnel and safety committee members in safety leadership behavioural skills, investigating incidents, performing workplace inspections, work planning, and safety briefings.
- May be required to be on call to work evenings and/or weekends, as required.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Health and Safety or related science/engineering. CRSP, CHSC, or CSP designation is considered an asset.
- 5 to 10 years of practical health and safety experience preferably in the transit or infrastructure industry. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

Who we are?Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) is a P3 consortium comprised of EllisDon, Atkins Realis, Aecon, and ACS - Dragados. CTS has been selected by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario to deliver the (ECLRT) Project. CTSM is part of this joint venture and will provide Maintenance and Rehabilitation Services for System Assets of the 19-kilometre ECLRT for a 30-year contract term.
