The Head Oncology Scientific Communications, Global Medical Affairs (GMA) will report directly to the Head, Global Scientific Communications (GSC), and be a member of the GSC Senior Leadership Team. In this role, the Head will lead the strategy and execution of scientific publications and communication for Oncology (both internal and external, including publications, medical communication, and education). The Head Oncology Scientific Communications will be a key contributor to the development of the Oncology Global Medical Affairs brand strategy and tactical plan. The Head will work with his/her team to execute many aspects of the plan related to, medical communications & content, medical education, publications and training.
· Scientific Communications: The Head Oncology will coordinate the development of strategic publication and communication plans for GMA and all Oncology and alliance products working together with the Therapeutic Area scientific communication head to oversee development of high quality publications (posters, abstracts, manuscripts) of clinical trial data, life cycle management studies and real world outcomes in coordination with HEOR and R&D. The Head will work with their team to identify new ideas for data analysis and publication concepts and ensure data from/alliance sponsored trials (SGSS) are presented in an appropriate and timely fashion, in a fair balanced manner and according to publications guidelines and internal procedures. Compliant interactions related to publications of data generated in Investigator Sponsored Studies will also be executed.
· Annual GMA plan: contribute to the development of the global medical affairs planwith cross-functional and therapeutic team input to ensure consistency and alignment across Oncology, leverage best practices and establish a template for creation of the regional plans.
· Leadership: active participation in the GSC senior leadership team. Managing a team of publications & medical communications professionals and PharmD fellows and working cross functionally with the biostatistics and training team members to ensure execution of the scientific communication plans.
· Medical Meetings and activities: Provide scientific and medical input into topics for publications, medical communication and training meetings, symposium, and advisory boards. Provide strategic input to Sanofi Genzyme presence at global medical congresses including medical affairs booth, expert meetings, briefing documents/survival guide, objectives and scientific content (abstracts, posters, presentations).
· Internal GMA Education: oversee development of the internal medical education plan (scientific platform, training modules, FAQs, backgrounders) and together with team oversee the creation of foundations for country level training. Participate in planning and content development for Global Medical Affairs summit meetings.
· Liaise with global and regional medical directors and brand leads to ensure fluid scientific communication and alignment on execution of strategy and tactics.
· External Medical Education: oversee development of the external medical education plan including disease state and product specific education materials and the creation of foundations for global materials that can be customized locally.
· Support content needs for global and regional advisory boards.
· Cross-functional Medical Support: provide input as needed to strategic imperatives, communication points and initiatives of HEOR, commercial, public relations and investor relations etc.
· Budget: Develop the annual scientific communication budget and forecasts (F1, F2) and closely manage and monitor activities in adherence to the budget.
· KOL Development: foster relationships and work closelywith therapeutic experts in the context of authorship, advisory boards, symposia and education materials etc. Contribute to development of therapeutic expert plans.
· Manage external vendors, including the publications and medical education agencies of record.
· Compliance: ensure all aspects of publications and medical communication and education materials are developed in a compliant fashion in accordance with SOPs and requirements under the CIA (in the US).
· Advanced scientific or clinical degree in the life sciences (e.g., Ph.D., Pharm.D.)
· >15years in scientific communications/medical affairswithin pharma/biotech industry
· Medical/Scientific/Clinical background in oncology
· Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize complicated data and scientific information
